15 hours huh? I hope the guy doesn't charge by the hour in his day job...

Screw the airline bashing, I want to know what type of phone he has.... (walks away mumbling something about 15 hour battery life while glaring at his iPhone...)

The problem I think, is that sometimes calls that get put in a queue sometimes just disappear and never seem to be answered. I've had it once or twice where after waiting on hold for half an hour, hang up, ring back and get through quickly.

(Not with Telstra/Big Pond though. IME half hour would be quick for them!)

I wonder if it's the same guy here: Overdose horror at city McDonald's | adelaidenow

And here I was thinking this was serious.

Let's call this guy a wanker and let the airline off scott free for losing an "important" call in the queue. Customer service?

Yep it not good that Qantas lost a call, but the guy is an idiot for holding on for 15 hours on a mobile and a wanker for going to the press about it....

There was an episode of 'Friends' where one of them did that and stayed up all night on hold. I think it inspired this story.

Indeed.

It gets worse too. He seems to have a Blackberry Bold 9800. Utterly dreadful handset. Trying to be a smartphone with a touchscreen but also have the traditional Blackberry handset. The touchscreen is awful.

I know this because I made the same mistake. :(

...and yes he would have been plugging that into the mains to stay on the line for 15 hours.

Interesting. I would've passed this off as more of a Seinfeld George Costanza thing to do (including the alerting the press).

If memory serves, it was a Friends Phoebe sorta thing. She was even more crazy than normal. But I can see Geoege doing it too.

Whenever I ring a business and it says that I'm Ten Thousand in the queue, I just go elsewhere :D

Why didn't he ring on the WP line? Would have been through in seconds.

What? Not a WP? But I thought his name was DYKWIA??

Qantas once left me on hold for around one hour. I just wanted to ask a question that I couldn't find an answer to on their website; I realised afterwards that I probably would've got a quicker response had I posted it on AFF :)

BB 9800 was a shocking phone and it was not a well balanced phone when you slide the screen up.

I got one but never used it. I sold it and got another BB 9700.

I wonder if he has shown his phone bill to anyone or his mobile network could provide a copy of the phone call pretty easy.

All calls are downloaded into the billing system within 24 hours of the call being concluded.

The guy sent his Optus bill to Plane Talking - confirms he was connected for almost 16 hours at a cost of $769!

Qantas 15 hours on hold! Was it incompetent, or untruthful? | Plane Talking

Glad to see some voice of reason on Plane Talking. The comments, that is, not the author.

The article only seeks to plainly put out that Qantas is either lying or incompetent in acknowledging the glitch or otherwise failure to pick up the call of Mr Kahn. It does not take into account at all that what Mr Kahn did is an antithesis to his "profession".

Naturally he was going to select something like Plane Talking. Who else do you think he was going to send it to to garner that kind of exposure?
