Got an odd question hoping someone could answer. I will be flying Hawaiian Airline business class from Sydney and they provide access to Qantas business class lounge. However I am a qantas platinum member so does it give me lounge access upgrade to first class lounge in this case? A bit of a weird one coz Hawaiian airline actually partners with Virgin and is not part of any alliances

Your QF status does not entitle you to F lounge flying HA

In this case your ticket with Hawaiian in business class is what is opening access to the Qantas business lounge as the contract lounge for Hawaiian, it has nothing to do with any frequent flyer status that you have. Hawaiian pays Qantas for its business class ticket holders to use the business lounge, it doesn't for the first lounge and as you infer Hawaiian has no frequent flyer relationship with Qantas.

Strange, they’re aligned with Virgin. I would have thought they’d use “The House”.

They may be aligned with Virgin, but Velocity Gold & Platinum members flying Hawaiian in economy class don't get any lounge access at all unless booked on the "VA" codeshare.

Makes no difference. JAL in Melbourne direct people to a different lounge other than any OW one there.

All comes down to cost.

To be fair, the Qantas Lounge in Melbourne (T2) is absolutely woeful. I don't blame them.
