Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

By consistent I meant enforcing existing rules not aligning them between airlines.
When discretion is allowed then inconsistency rules.

Also with people posting about gaining admission when not entitled then there is an even greater incentive for airlines to have a strict scanning policy with no exceptions.

I was being a bit tongue in cheek tbh

I agree in consistency and wanting that - but QF is a past master in not doing that. And in things like this where human factors are involved (eg: lounge agents knowing/not knowing/enforcing or not the rues - or even wrongly doing same) then it leads to a world of pain for all. Kind of like the dress code that applies to some domestic lounges but not all and so on. Nature of the beast

all of this has been, more or less, fine until push comes to shove, and with crowded lounges and the like and no doubt people complaining (just try MEL or SYD on a Friday 5-8pm rush hours).

Really though as the article mentioned most people on arrival just want to get going. It's only rare I've stopped in on arrival at my destination for one reason or another - mostly nothing to do with an extr a drink or food or something like that. I'd say the folks (entitled) actually using this arrivals access would be small and it's probably relatively small those trying to get it and being knocked back - just as a guess. Maybe I'm wrong, but I do think >95% of pax get off their flight and want to get home or to their hire car or hotel or whatever.

I don't think this is a huge deal in terms of future changes, but as we all recall WP lost "anytime" access, though of course to me the arrivals access pretty much gave pseudo-anytime access and only potentially affecting anyone accessing a lounge not flying QF or JQ and that probably would only apply in terminals where all the airlines are together (CNS for example) where it may be someone might try for access on their status if they're on VA or TT or whatever... I still think they would be few. places like SYD/MEL/PER and to a lesser extent BNE and ADL are less likely to see this due to the amount of walking required to get to the other airlines' gates but I suppose it could still happen.

anyway just some random toughts :)

"A passenger arriving in Sydney yesterday was surprised to learn he wasn't allowed entry despite his Gold-level Frequent Flyer status".

I am beyond dumbfounded that this is a news story.

I agree it's a piss poor, sloppy whinge masquerading as an aviation news article.

Basically what I said. :D

I wonder why aviation related news are particularly difficult for journalists to report correctly and accurately. The fact that only Platinum members and above enjoy domestic arrivals lounge access is plainly stated on the Qantas web site. Is research and fact-checking no longer required in journalism?

Though it will probably be easier for QF to just stop WP+ from having arrivals access. Cue JohnK for a "Golden" comment :D
Don't laugh. I have proof that Qantas is abolishing Platinum in favour of Gold. Just can't find the right thread to post the photo.

But seriously when Qantas removed Anytime Access arrivals access went with it. Arrivals access restored only after complaints. That may not be the case next time and next time may not be too far away.

But don't want to scare people who are making long term plans.

Never plan anything long-term when it comes to airline loyalty schemes.

Well if they do scrap it soon after enticing me to go for WP with a DSC offer I think they will get a complaint from me.

Notice how complaints didn't bring back Anytime Access?
