Lord Salisbury was quoted as saying that the Daily Mail was "written by office boys for office boys". I think he was being kind.
 
Interesting comment from a US based person "expect the seats will be filled with free upgrades" - certainly reflects the difference in approach to premium cabins..
 
Why would you bother writing a story if you haven't been on it.

Confession time: I read it at my in-laws when visiting the UK. It's usually a 2 day old copy whenever I visit
I always have a chuckle reading about the latest dole bludgers.

...and then wait for the airline to file chapter 11 bankruptcy because they arent making money because of all the upgrades!.. a la american carriers! ;)

Chapter 11 is more to do with high-cost structures, and AA being the only legacy carrier not to have restructured.

US domestic upgrades is a separate issue, and not confined to AA.

I do remember working in the US pre and post 9/11, and several of my colleagues were retrenched AA and UA pursers and FAs..... They all made the same comment to me at the time...... That "when it comes to domestic First Class - no-one, no-one pays for it" :)
