Qantas First Class menus

They do look like kumquats. If so they are quite a nice fruit provided you eat the whole thing skin and all
I agree - I'd go for kumquats. Sliced in half, deseeded (or mostly so), then cooked down slowly until soft and then maybe cooked in a syrup.

Would suit well with a lemon tart or flan, assuming that there's some definitive tartness to the lemon.

Are the FAs embarrassed, or oblivious to the poor quality, because that's all they see?
I'd say oblivious. Very few would fly First (or even Business) on carriers such as EK, SQ and JL.

I've always thought it to be the same reason for service, too. I genuinely think the front line staff have no clue what they're competing against.

I’m. A little confused.
I read the mains of chicken and fish as rather simple. I mean, they're just seared, with simple sides and dressing.

This is a nice fresh meal if you have really good produce. Also good if you're not looking for something too heavy.

But in the air, the produce isn't as fresh, and if you don't pull it off right, you've got a boring dish. Like, a really boring dish.

Would probably have been better to put up a dish with more bold flavours or with some punch.

Then again, it is the SIN-LHR leg with supper, so heavy may not be what people would be going for.

What did you end up picking?

I just got salad , fruit and pecan pie

Scrambled eggs were really good and chocolate mouse for breakfast

Already ate in sydney and on the plane over

Don’t think too many eat on second leg .

Had the seared garoupa and snow peas recently, agree that it was tasty but boring with only 2 ingredients. Would have benefitted from another side, perhaps rice/potato based. Not Neil’s salad which I can’t help thinking of as a cost saving menu filler.

- Toothfish and lamb mains were fantastic (probably the best I’ve had on a plane albeit my only ever other F flight was an EK short haul)
- Soup was pretty good
- Beef pastilla starter was delicious too
- Pommery served for PDB then they served Bollinger rest of the flight. Tried the chard and it was fine. Cab Sav was much nicer than Shiraz (to me) but generally stuck to Bolly. Asked for Pommery with second meal service but they bought Bollinger so maybe ran out?
- Staff were very nice and friendly and tried to coax me to eat straight after takeoff but more than happy to delay for a few hours when I asked about dine on demand. Outside of meal times it was more a “ask for anything” vs “we’ll check on people frequently” vibe

- BA First dining area (loved the design, food was OK but nothing better than the buffet food)
- Moet served for PDB and then Bollinger once up in the air
- Food was pretty good (not as good as ex-Sydney but that’s to be expected)
- Had steak sandwich instead of breakfast due to landing time in Sydney being 3pm
