A few years ago fuel surcharges were reduced back to normal levels as the price of fuel dropped.
A "normal" level for fuel surcharges should be zero.

I agree with you but from memory the domestic fuel surcharge was decreased back down to $8 per sector or something similar not that long ago which is almost acceptable.A "normal" level for fuel surcharges should be zero.
QF real taxes will be exactly the sameJust called up United $125 taxes RETURN
They extra will not be taxes. Will be taxes, carrier surcharges & carriers imposed fees.
Never ever confuse the real taxes (paid to governments) with carrier surcharges & carriers imposed fees
As post above this is not new. Same for QF, BA, MH and many others carriers.
