OK I am off the milk idea and firmly onto the bottle of Champers from BWS using WWEDRC - then sit here drinking it and watch all you old women squabbling about how to achieve the end result I just achieved whilst sipping away on my Champers - ;) - just sayin'!

Hmm, they may be a lot of old men ;) just sayin!

I thought family transfers don't prevent the transferred points from expiring?

Transfer in doesn't. Transfer out does

That is how it works in effect. But it is worth remembering that points expiry is a property of the QFF account not the points.

It is the account that determines expiry. Not the points.

Transfer out to an account with activity greater than 18 months ago will still see the points expire.

Thanks for all the advice. I've decided to get a Woolworths EDC in her name which will be very simple.

I just advised someone to make a donation thru the qf ff 'earn points' page. I hope this is correct. I am not really very savvy re qf points. Ive edited it because i called it the toolbar which is wrong. if i am correct this is truly an easy way. I hope someone will confirm this

Is actually a "search" ... although one may be donating statistics.

To start mid february may be ok for someone with a 31 March expiry ... I'd be more comfortable if it was 30 April.

As an old woman :) , I suggest that from London she could easily hop on a short-haul BA or IB flight and credit the ff points to her Qantas account. Any Oneworld airline in fact. Just make sure it is a points-earning fare class by checking on the QF website for partner earn rates. So if she's taking a weekend away in Europe somewhere it could be an easy fix.

it came up immediately on his activity statement. is that enough? Oh ive misused the word tool bar. sorry. i mean he went in to qf site and found something to spend his points on, and donated

Can you do that (get a credit card in someone else's name) with the 100 point security check

They are not getting a credit card.

It is an everyday rewards card. Similar to fly buys. Not a credit card.

You can get a WWEDR card to earn EDR points without having to get the WW credit card. I don't think there's a 100 point check on the WWEDR card.

Sorry guys, I was forgetting about just the rewards card and was thinking of the credit card. My mistake

Credit card in someone else's name will be impossible.
Even if its a joint application, it's then 2 to sign.
Imagine getting a credit card for eg, in the name of your pet.
Impossible, Aust Post won't do 100 point id if person applying not there in person.

duh can we get back to my simple question? if you donate something to some charity from qantas earn points that will save points? right or wrong. certainly far easier than all your elaborate suggestions so maybe i am wrong

Should do. It is activity. Have you checked the terms and conditions.

Putting aside the good aspects of donating. Most people want to keep their points, that is why they would do things that keep that points alive rather than just give the points away. I certainly haven't seen an elaborate suggestion in this thread.

It is very possible. I manage to get credit cards in my wife's name all the time. It is not 2 to sign either. IIRC you don't have a credit card?

No one has suggested doing that...

What's the smallest points purchase on the Qantas store? That would count also and quite easy?

The smallest purchase on the Qantas store is about 3,750 points. My wife is doing that each 17 months to avoid losing her points as she's not flying these days. One of the options in the Qantas store is to buy a Gift Card worth about $25 which you can use productively at Woolworths, JF-Hifi, etc.

I'm in the same position with my points about to expire at the end of Feb. I did the toolbar thingy over a month ago and the points have not posted. I figure I will purchase a WW gift card to keep the account active.
