People get so hung up on T&Cs.... think they are some kind of unbreakable contract of biblical proportions.... something that cannot be undone.... yet we have something called common law and contracts have to "reasonable" and "fair" and contracts are constantly argued in court and T&Cs are often ruled unlawful.

Remember when Jetstar's T&Cs - which we agreed to when buying a ticket - insisted on a $30 fee for using a credit card? Well eventually that was reigned in - I just don't see how anyone can categorically think this can't be reigned in either.

By the same token, just because you don't like a rule, doesn;t mean its unfair. The only way to really find out is to go through the court process and see.

In the case of QFF, they built a whole shop so you could spend your points to your hearts content.....

Did the frequent flyer phone line hours get enhanced this week? Calling 131131 now gets a recorded message saying that it’s only open 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday. Thought it was 24hrs but your call went OS?

I think you may be calling the wrong number that is the FF Line not the Plat Line and the FF Line has always had limited operating hours.

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

QFF is 13 11 31.

But I always thought you ended up in the same system, and got directed around based on you QFF status after you entered your number.

Currently, that number says they’re closed. No chance to even enter QFF number.

scr77 what are you trying to do? and what is your QFF status level?

No big deal and didn’t want to take thread OT. Do AA use same booking reference for seat selection as Qantas or do they use their own like Emirates?

Just booked 3 J seats PHX to LAX to MEL at the end of Easter school holidays next year. This wouldn’t have been available to NB previously.

AA use a different booking engine from Qantas (Sabre) , so will have a different PNR than Qantas.

Regarding some of the less than comlimentary comments about those of us earning points on the ground.

We don't all have oportunities to travel overseas regularly. I would think that quite a few that do would be on employer paid flights and others paying for flights out of their own business which is most likely tax deductible. Both give the opportunity to accumulate points and gain status.

If it is possible to earn points through credit card churning then lets use it to our advantage if we can't fly overseas 3 or 4 times a year (or more).

After all the one thing we all like in this forum is flying to far away destinations in as much style as we can.

I understand but accumulating points allows you to fly and occasionally in premium class. Status credits though are surely about showing status, through airline spend and therefore loyalty, regardless of who spends that money. Why should someone who had to fly regularly for work and not be with family be somehow less deserving of status.

Dunno ... I never ring that number.

The one I normally use asks for FF.mumber and PIN.

As I have status and points this doesn’t affect me but I do understand and agree with the Points Club concept.

Qantas has created a currency which everyone can earn regardless of status but has made it harder for those without status to spend on flights. That disparity is inherently unfair.

My guess is that we are all earning points through everyday credit card spend. Not just through flying. Some more than others.

You could probably redeem points for SYD to HNL in J for what some would happily spend on a toaster in the QF shop. The value of points and how they are earned and spent are in the eye of the beholder. We all have different priorities. I wouldn’t worry too much about what others say or think.

Just did a tester and Qantas had a ridiculous points figure and the other guys had A330s in J at their normal level.
This is for a run from PER-SYD-PER in July. Now I won’t go and use 300,000 points one way so QF is way off.

I think you are completely off point on this, but I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree - good luck with your class action........

Unfair? Whomever says that a loyalty programme needs to be fair? It’s about rewarding loyalty and not who can accumulate the most points via non flying means.
