Qantas FF and Woolworths create new loyalty alliance

A bit off topic, but had to share a funny scenario at Woolworths today. Picture an elderly gentleman in the express checkout lane. When asked "do you have a rewards card?" he said "eh?". This went back and forth a couple of times. He was very hard of hearing. Finally the checkout lady said "don't worry sir". With that he paid for his purchases. Just before setting off, he asked "why do I need a divorce ?" :D

Just as well he wasn't using the Self Serve lane, he could have been there for days!!!

Aren't they just the normal UPC (or EAN) codes as used on products? (93xx_xx_xx_x are Australian producst).

Update: I stuck my EDR number into an online EAN-13 barcode generator and got a barcode that looks like the one on the back of my WWEDR card.

Seconded. I can also confirm that the barcode is an EAN-13.

Out of interest, for what reason do you ask serfty? Are you looking to use some form of phone-based membership card holder such as CardStar to reduce the load in one's wallet?

Well i dont need that-mrs.dr.ron effectively reduces the load in my wallet.;)

I had this a few weeks ago. My interpretation was I needed to buy 3 different products. Or maybe I was just being safe

Just got 900 points credited to my account. So yes, you can buy three of the same products.

1) Cleared up the table, I’m not sure why you’re seeing bonus points in the same column as the transaction, as they haven’t done that for a while AFAIK. Bonus points usually list as a separate line, like a separate transaction. However without the two 200-point bonuses, everything looks right.

2) When you go to Woolworths you earn a fuel saving offer (typically 4¢/L off fuel) when you spend $30 or more. On the EDR website you can change this offer from 4¢/L to 2 point/L… or basically half of whatever your fuel voucher ends up being if there’s special for a higher saving off fuel. You can’t keep switching backwards and forwards all the time, but if you have 2 cards (linked through family) just label one as a point earner and the other as a fuel discount if you want to have flexibility, depending on the price of fuel ;)

The quarterly statement bonuses often occur in the same line as the transaction, my 700 points for three brands did two weeks ago.

Mine hasn’t for ages now, and I couldn’t look too far back so couldn’t check, but reckon it did in the past. Was only going off memory and what I could see.

thanks sam

really apprecaite it

I get the table now

as for the converting, im quite confused still
"On the EDR website you can change this offer from 4¢/L to 2 point/L… or basically half of whatever your fuel voucher ends up being if there’s special for a higher saving off fuel."

so if I have 1 savings voucher for 4c/l, I can convert this to 2 extra QFF points???? doesn't seem very good if thats the case?

Say you have 1 4¢/L fuel saving voucher stored on your card, and you buy petrol at $1.50, it’ll actually only be $1.46, as you know, with the voucher.

However, change that voucher from a discount to points and your fuel will cost you $1.50/L still, but for every litre you put in your car, you’ll get half the value of the voucher back… in this case 2 points per litre.

So fill up 50L at $1.50 with a discount ($1.46) and it’ll cost $73 with a saving of $2.

Or fill up 50L at $1.50 with points instead and it’ll cost you $75 and you’ll earn 100 points.

You either get the 4cents a litre off

OR

2 Qantas FF points per litre

It all depends how you value your Qantas FF points

Let's say on 50 litres
4 cents a litre discount = $2 petrol discount
2 Qantas FF points = 100 Qantas FF points

Now 100 Qantas FF points can be worth as little as
$0.74 when used to redeem gift voucher from Qantas
$7 when used to book long-haul business class seats

So it all depends on what you want to use the points for

Hope this help!
