Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

Qantaslink is not operated by Qantas

While that's true at a technical level from the perspective of the air operating certificate, for purposes of ticketing, the frequent flyer terms and conditions refers to the QF code on the operating flight. What they're doing is excluding codeshares, where the flight is marketed as QF but operated by an entirely different airline with its own IATA code. This doesn't happen with Qantaslink, they only have the one QF code, thus they're still "Operated by Qantas." This should be clarified in the master terms and conditions somewhere.

My status end date is/ was 31st Jan. Last year I earned gold through the challenge offer.

I did not receive any status credit roll over from last year despite being gold and having a flight booked within the time frame. I just called QFF to discuss and they said because I was not gold last year (Jan 2021) anniversary I am not eligible for status credit roll over. Is that correct?

Edit:
Never mind, I HUACA. Got a different agent who confirmed I was supposed to have the rollover and they will organise for it to be fixed.

I may be in a similar boat...Might need to call up as well. Thanks for the Intel.

Can someone tell me how to find out what my 'status year' dates are? Sorry if that's a dumb Q, but I'm new to all this. I've logged in to my QANTAS FF account, but while I can see the number of status credits I have (not very many), I can't find what date they will expire. I currently have Gold status but due to not being able to fly anywhere lately I'm down to only 55 credits and need 600 to retain Gold, so I'm really hoping this recent announcement from QANTAS will apply to me!

If you have the mobile app, you can click on the gold card on the top right hand corner, this will display your virtual membership card that has your current expiry date.

Click through to “Status activity” and the due date (status anniversary date) is down the bottom left.

Edit: BTW, welcome to AFF and your 1st post!

While the status extension offer was very welcome, it may have not have had a desired effect with me.

As I now only have to book one reward flight by 31 Aug to retain Gold (which I've done) I have cancelled several booked flights, as I don't want to accrue more than 250 SC's this year, for obvious reasons. These flights can be rebooked for Sept 2022 onwards, if needed.

Interesting, I'm much the opposite to your situation, with a requal for Platinum of 1200 SCs in 2023 and the ability to roll over 500 SCs from flying this year plus 100 SCs with PC+, I'm now incentivised to both earn the additional ~150K points I need for PC+ and fly another 250SCs worth by my expiry to start at 50% of requal for 2023 - given my work related travel is reduced currently and I'm honestly not sure what the curve will look like from here, this works just fine for me, and I'll be aiming for both.

The question is what I'll do for any surplus SCs next year, whether I'd seek to delay that travel to 2024, and the likelihood is no because I still have LTSC to bank and can only imagine travel opportunities increasing going forward, so I'm probably going to end up flying more this year than I otherwise would simply for the insurance of starting off 2023 in a stronger position.

Just booked 4 QF flights this evening for travel next weekend. A red e-Deal cash fare: SYD > BNE departing 11 Mar returning 14 Mar and a classic award of BNE > LRE departing 12 Mar returning 13 Mar. Couple questions:
  1. That should be enough now to extend my gold till November 2023?
  2. The 20 status credits I'll earn on the SYD > BNE red e-deal will roll over to next year?
I haven't received word yet from QF regarding status extension from booking these flights. Hopefully I receive that shortly.

My plan is to rollover the 20 status credits earned on this flight for next year and apply the 50 SC threshold bonus for collecting 500 SCs on JQ/QF flights for next year as well (I'll hit the threshold in late October and my year ends on November 30 so in theory could apply threshold to new year in December)

I don’t expect you will hear any word from QF regarding booking these flights. That doesn’t happen. You will only see the evidence when you retain your status on December 1st.

What will the Status Credits that are rolled over contribute towards?
The Status Credits rolled over will contribute towards attaining and retaining status for Platinum One, Platinum, Gold and Silver. They will not contribute towards any bonus Rewards, Lifetime Status or Status Accelerators.

Last year I received the status credit boost of 600 points. Aside from that, since I am based in Hong Kong I earned no other status credits. My year ended in Feb 2022 and I was auto-renewed to Feb 2023.

As of today, my status credit balance is still 600 - do you think QF has given me another 600 points as a status credit boost?

It should say something in your activity about what has happened.
It shows nothing related to these 600 status credits. Does it take a few days into the new membership year before they get zeroed? It's been a long time since we've had proper travel so I've forgotten these things.

Not normally. In most cases, people see an entry for the expiration of the status credits, and then another entry adding them back.

On March first my activity showed -xx_x expired status credits, then later on March 1, 500 status boost. Possibly QF thought it irrelevant to expire your SC?

Yeah it’s strange….no expiry of my status credits for my year to Feb 2022, it shows that I need 600 credits to renew platinum this year. Will update here if there’s any changes.

Academic question for the brains trust...

(Academic in the sense that I will almost certainly book a new flight before my deadline date, but interested anyway)

I made, and paid for, a booking on 27/2 (i.e before the 28/2 start date for status extensions for the July-Dec cohort).
I changed the booking in early March and paid the fare-change amount. The trip was re-ticketed

Does this booking now 'count' towards the status extension?

I know that in the past, members have not been eligible for DSC-type offers if the reservation was prior to the window. The explanation provided then was because of the fare. However, my fare was amended inside the window

Like I said, mildly intererested, rather than concerned.

cheers

Changing an existing booking where the original booking was made prior to the start date wouldn‘t be eligible.

You need a new booking with a new PNR (booking reference).
