Qantas extends priority boarding to SG frequent flyers

Think someone forgot to add SG to the sign at PER in Ashleyns case.
But when the annoucement came up for that SYD flight, mmm, that one was odd.
I have also noted PB always has been for SG upwards. I flash my SG card and have not been ushered to the right.
For me, QF staff in this regard are much better than VAs treatment of me as PS.
Have had empty seat and empty row for my sole use as a QF SG, but VA never gave me anything.

Have you ever been VA gold? If so then they have indeed given you something called priority board - the topic of this thread.

It's a OW benefit...

That might be the case, but qantas is not required to give Oneworld benefits to their own program members.

Would that be so? Are there other OW Sapphire benefits that QF does not offer/honour?

AA do not provide lounge access to their own members, as best I understand. This thread is about domestic priority boarding, since internationally this was provided to gold for a long time.

Exactly, and Qantas even have published rules for their own members that differ than from what they provided to members of other *O programs. (e.g. International Qantas Lounge access criteria for members guests.)

When will Gold be allowed entry to lounge on arrival?
When Qantas merge Platinum and Gold.

Otherwise it is a waste of time and money to have 2 status tiers/cards with very similar benefits.

If we assume those platinum benefits will be transferred to the merged gold.

I do too, but sometimes when you've got an old grandparent telling you off as if you're 10 (I'm 29 so they like to call me honey or darling) then I just decide not to waste my time and get a coffee downstairs.
Luck I'm just a young grandparent then :!:

IMHO People mostly treat you as they perceive you need to be treated.

OT to the PB topic, but anyway....

yes, WP is being devalued, but since OW has 3 tiers of status (Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald) vs Star's two (poor effort that Star has not matched, but that's a whole other issue) there is reason to keep WP benefits at a certain level (eg: F lounge access, post-flight access for QF WP/QF lounge - this is not a OW benefit that I am aware of for OWE) etc.

PB is one thing, but the calls to merge other benefits I think are not ever going to happen. It would cost QF too much and I do believe QF will still want to differentiate the level of benefit for those that make WP vs SG.

As for a domestic op up as a Gold. yep... good luck with that one! :p

I think you're not getting what is being suggested. Merge QFF gold and platinum. There will still be wp1. Meaning 3 levels to align with oneworld.

Maybe so, but BNE - ADL with a whole 3 rows to myself, now, ooooch me lucky tail!
I will have another one coming back BNE - ADL again soon on 09 Jun, will test it out and see if I get an op up this time, paws crossed, if not, ... I might get a seat shadow, or nowt.

you won't get a seat shadow but you might be lucky if you have an empty flight without many elites therefore meaning no one bothers to switch seats at online check in,

I get that, but WP1 is only attained by a relatively small number of flyers. now OW/QF may like that in terms of cost savings (access to F loounges intl which QF pay for, etc etc) but a merge of current SG/WP into a single QF "Brass" level or something seems a bit much

though the point is not lost on me that the value of WP has been eroded with things like adding SG to the PB list, and so on (which is what I had suggested already :) )

anyway I doubt it will happen.

Qantas will do anything to reduce costs. Eliminating the current platinum level will do that nicely. The similarity of benefits makes for the perfect excuse. Perhaps rejig the qualification for new gold upwards, reducing gold numbers. Then they're left with a hard to attain exclusive platinum level that requires mostly qantas flying, perhaps they loosen that somewhat. 2700 SC, 1800 on QF :?: New gold at 900 SC.

Call me cynical. If the shoe fits I'll wear it.

The sad thing is qantas is so transparently shallow at devaluing the program that I'm only expressing this thought because I believe they already have the idea. ;)

Well Qantas forgot to tell staff at Perth Airport. I was made to do the walk of shame, for not being platinum. As I was a little uncertain of the privilege - although I have used priority boarding often since it was introduced - I didn't argue the toss. I did though look up GS privileges before take and lodged and complaint online. The only response I ever got was we take your complaint seriously. Seriously. Next time in Perth I asked about this in the Qantas Club. Confusion reigned amongst the staff. Qantas if you want to keep your customers you have to do much better than this.

Hmmm, I was just advised that PB was for platinum and business only, hence my presence on this thread to see if anything had changed.
Fortunately, I did't have to do the walk of shame as I was just enquiring whether I could still use PB when accompanied by my partner who's bronze. Apparently I can, but only if I'm entitled.
With regard to the general change. I think it's reasonable. If you only fly short domestic hops at 10 or 20 SC's a go, you could be a very loyal Qantas customer and yet never get past SG. A bit of help getting on those numerous flights is nice

Well thats odd... As far as I'm aware there has been no change (and i'd sure hope not) Maybe you should call QF or we'll ask RedRoo? (I don't know how to tag them) haha

Sounds like a staff member who isn't aware of the new rules.
