Perhaps but I think this whole thing is just a smokescreen and I’m willing to bet that EK are simply releasing less award seats which is their prerogative. The cynic in me thinks this change of Silver or above will have zero effect on awards released by EK

For the reward release situation to improve in general we probably need competition to lead to increased supply beyond what demand will match with excess supply available for reward seats for the airlines to get something for them instead of leaving them empty or filling with staff holiday travel.

What doesnt make sense is the availability on Aeroplan when Qf made the cut

More likely, the flooded amount of people from US booking EK F via QF due to the cheap conversion AMEX/ CC transfer which is IMHO is why QF really cut back and now made it Silver and above

Apparently it was costing Qf al ot of money and they knew it was non AU redemptions, dont believe for a second that EK is holding back or not releasing seats.

Just my theory

has anyone had any luck finding a J or even better F seat on the HKG - BKK route recently, or are they just completely gone for QFF's now? Have been looking for one in April but nothing, and can't see anything on some random searches in other months either. Used to be dime a dozen.

Personally, I’d take CX. Slightly more points but only HK$583 v HK$2194(!) EK imposed fuel fines….

EK did reduce availability on their program but the seats were still showing on aeroplan at that time. I did alot of hunting and found that EK and aeroplan released seats in F but QF didnt.

I am just curious if its worth getting Silver and if QF will get more seats back in EK F?

am wanting to go in the other direction actually (and not tonight!) but good to see some out there. Would def choose CX over EK in J, but ideally I want a F seat though...

Thought I'd give my recent experience after just getting home from Europe, was able to find 4x classic reward in J for Zurich to Melbourne for the return leg. I found and booked these on 23rd May for travel on the 25th June.

The first leg had the 4-class 777 which was fantastic, second leg was A380.
