Qantas - Emirates Award flight Discussion

Dumb question alert for the brains trust: Is it possible to make a standalone Qantas classic rewards booking with Emirates from Malta to Larnaca (Cyprus)? Either by calling Qantas, or somehow online.

I can't get Malta to appear as a destination unless I start with a multi-city first leg in Rome FCO, but the routing is bad (from Rome, to London, then on to Malta), and charges don't make it worth it.

Perhaps but I think this whole thing is just a smokescreen and I’m willing to bet that EK are simply releasing less award seats which is their prerogative. The cynic in me thinks this change of Silver or above will have zero effect on awards released by EK

What doesnt make sense is the availability on Aeroplan when Qf made the cut

More likely, the flooded amount of people from US booking EK F via QF due to the cheap conversion AMEX/ CC transfer which is IMHO is why QF really cut back and now made it Silver and above

Apparently it was costing Qf al ot of money and they knew it was non AU redemptions, dont believe for a second that EK is holding back or not releasing seats.

Just my theory
