Dumb question alert for the brains trust: Is it possible to make a standalone Qantas classic rewards booking with Emirates from Malta to Larnaca (Cyprus)? Either by calling Qantas, or somehow online.

I can't get Malta to appear as a destination unless I start with a multi-city first leg in Rome FCO, but the routing is bad (from Rome, to London, then on to Malta), and charges don't make it worth it.

Just checked Aeroplan and there is definitely EK F showing up for June/ July 2026

The following routes on AP have 1-2 seats in F

SYD - CHC (3 seats on certain dates)
DXB - MLE
DXB - FCO
DXB - WAW
DXB - MIL
DXB - MCT
DXB - CAI
DXB - HKG
DXB - DAC

Just to name a few... I'm sure there is more legs with availability

Correct, it's still there for some routes in F but nothing like before and nothing to/from AU..... again after March

anyone tried calling up to see if the phone will do the dub - euro leg, when there is a flight showing for the aus-euro when booked together?
For instance PER-MUN availablle in sept in first class, but try to look up the individual europe leg and its not available

anyone tried via phone?
Yep, I called EK and posted up thread that the EK agent stated that the EK sales team had not released any seats for EK let alone QF in Jun 2026. I maybe selfish but I do not care what random seats people may see for Sep 25, Nov 25 or SYD-CHC or any other 5th freedom route. The fact is simple, out of AU EK dried up from around march, don’t know the exact date as it was not relevant for our needs. For May/ June 2026 which was my interest, seats were there and then vanished.I was lucky I have F HND-DXB-LHR on my preferred dates, coming back BRU-DXB (F) then DXB-HND (J) I may end up cancelling the EK return flight and just use AY J which I also have. Just getting the outbound HND-DXB-LHR to several calls and then made changes within the initial 24hr window of opportunity.

I do see some SIN - DXB flights in APR 26

There were heaps of SIN-DXB in F almost everyday up until June 26 before Aug 5th.
Managed to book one F seat for June as well.
Then almost all disappeared after Aug 5th.
Agree, but AP still has seats and has seats in June & July 2026

AU route used to always try up around the peak periods

Need QF to fix their issue for EK F non AU legs ASAP!

DXB-MLE (Male) had 1 or 2 F on every flight before Aug 5, now QF not showing them

So 3 weeks in, issue still not fixed

QF saying "Emirates controls award space"
EK saying "to check with QF"

Had a conversation with a very experienced Hobart operator this morning regarding this issue.

From the August 5th change, the Qantas website is now unable to ticket bookings in AED currency for first class classic reward bookings in/out of Dubai to non-Australian destinations.

Which explains why first class classic rewards can only be seen with an Australian leg attached to the booking.

They stated however the call centers are still able to ticket bookings in AED in/out of Dubai for first class rewards to destinations other than Australia. You just have to place a call to them to check availability and have them ticket it over the phone.

They were unsure of the reasons for this change and if it will be permanent. Hope this helps.

That's yet another lie from them sadly :(

DXB - MLE (Male) in F ticketed for me a few months ago in AUD

YOUR AIRLINE RECEIPT:
FARE: AED 0
TAXES/FEES/CARRIER CHARGES AUD 403.00

TOTAL: AUD 403.00

GRAND TOTAL: AUD 403.00

I don't know enough about this to know what's right or wrong here, but I'll just point out that @Callomari's post stated "From the August 5th change, the Qantas website is now unable to ticket bookings in AED..." whereas you're talking about something being ticketed a few months ago in AUD.

that will be so annoying to keep calling them to check for availability
they just need to hire better IT people to fix the issue, or communicate with emirates

My point is that it was ticketed in AUD before so why wouldn't be ticketed in AUD now..............

I share the believe that QF is restricting or blocking the rewards due to the massive influx of overseas 'point hackers' using QF to book extremely cheap EK F flights mainly to EU/ US since AP is not worth the points and EK restricting F to SW status holders

QF probably owe $M's to EK because of this.

We in AU have a worse off transfer ratio with programs like Amex ect

I do not believe it is about AED currency. All flights departing from Dubai are charged in AUD, and most of the flights departing from other countries are charged in their local currency, such as MYR, HKD, EUR, etc.

Our question is, did you successfully find any F seat via this very experienced Hobart operator which is not showing on the website?

Yes correct just checked my INV-DXB flight booked in F and they were charged in 1,175.79 GBP
