Had a conversation with a very experienced Hobart operator this morning regarding this issue.

From the August 5th change, the Qantas website is now unable to ticket bookings in AED currency for first class classic reward bookings in/out of Dubai to non-Australian destinations.

Which explains why first class classic rewards can only be seen with an Australian leg attached to the booking.

They stated however the call centers are still able to ticket bookings in AED in/out of Dubai for first class rewards to destinations other than Australia. You just have to place a call to them to check availability and have them ticket it over the phone.

They were unsure of the reasons for this change and if it will be permanent. Hope this helps.

I do not believe it is about AED currency. All flights departing from Dubai are charged in AUD, and most of the flights departing from other countries are charged in their local currency, such as MYR, HKD, EUR, etc.

Our question is, did you successfully find any F seat via this very experienced Hobart operator which is not showing on the website?

Yes correct just checked my INV-DXB flight booked in F and they were charged in 1,175.79 GBP

I called a few days ago to check for F availability BRU-DXB that I could see on AC, but the HBA agent could not see anything...

I just did a quick check and looks like QF website is still showing no F outside AU and no F from AU after March 2026?

As another data point opposing the allegations of that Qantas call centre employee, there are no F tickets showing on Emirates fifth freedom routes (which are not ticketed in AED)

Edit: Could be that the seat is now blocked until my booking times out

I can see it too. I suspect someone cancelled the trip as I'm sure it wasn't there before

The main issue is the lack of any seats in any cabin from March onwards from Australia to Dubai (ADL has some J but that hasn't' changed in weeks)

searched KUL-AMS, 2 people. F available between DXB and AMS.



when searched separately in multi city, DXB-AMS doesnt show any F seats.



which means that DXB-Europe F seats are available on the website ONLY IF the starting location is non DXB.

when you search multi city, you wont be able to see F.

just search KUL to AMS directly, then select 20th May

That's yet another lie from them sadly

DXB - MLE (Male) in F ticketed for me a few months ago in AUD

YOUR AIRLINE RECEIPT:
FARE: AED 0
TAXES/FEES/CARRIER CHARGES AUD 403.00

TOTAL: AUD 403.00

GRAND TOTAL: AUD 403.00

Only the call centre can ticket in AUD not the online website which is where searches are done.
Also i am wondering if its something broken on the QF site as JL has problems too if its jot attached to an Australian leg.
