Did they possibly consolidate 2 flights into one?

No idea. All a bit odd. I've managed to sort our seating but we are no longer sitting together as there are no adjacent pairs of seats (there are four of us).

QF1574 to QF1568. Same time, same date, same aircraft.

Edit. Apaprently its a "change of operating airline", ie its gone from QF to QF link.

Ditto here for similar QF15xx flights, seat changed from 6A to 9A on A220. Not bothered by that just strange.

Having pondered about this over lunch, I reckon you're on the money.

BNE-MEL this week and QF's overwhelming is generous.
Never enjoyed so much legroom in 4A. Could barely reach Biz seat in front with my foot. Surely this can't last!
