Say G'day to Longreach
Calling all aviation enthusiasts! Grab an Akubra, pull on your RM’s. Join us on 20 October 2018 for an all-inclusive day trip to Longreach to raise funds for drought-stricken Aussie farmers. For $770 per person, your all-inclusive trip includes:

https://www.qantas.com/au/en/promotions/brand/qantas-drought-relief.html?int_cam=au:en:homepage-promotion:drought-relief-longreach-flight:en:flights

  • ‘Australian outback’ themed return flights between Sydney and Longreach
  • Surprise celebrity guest to host throughout the day
  • Entry to the Qantas Founders Museum to experience the original and replica aircraft and the museum’s impressive collection of genuine artefacts
  • Inflight auctions
  • Champagne brunch in the Sydney Domestic Business Lounge on departure
  • Welcome onboard country coughtail and Australian-themed Neil Perry inflight refreshments
  • Afternoon tea in Longreach
  • Sunset bush BBQ
  • Entertainment from Australian music icons
  • Gift bag
All proceeds will go directly to Australian charity Rural Aid to purchase hay bales, water, fuel and groceries for farmers and fund counsellors for rural communities. And if that isn’t enough incentive, there is a newly restored Lockheed Super Constellation in Qantas livery now on display. $770 is the equivalent of 7 large hay bales, which feeds more than 70 cows for three weeks.

We did the last one of these, it was a great day out and a very good cause

hmmm .. I could drive, (and donate the $700) or maybe give the bike a run ( and donate the $700) or fly to sidderney ( and spend a grand +++ by the time I stay for 2 nights…) to participate.
Otoh .. I wouldn't get all the freebies unless I go the sidderney…. hmmmmmmm

Brilliant. Good on QF.

That said, and Speaking as an ex-farm kid, must be bloody big bales of hay if one would feed ten cows for 3 weeks. Maybe our Tassie cows were a bit DYKNWIA and used to greener pastures. Not that we didn’t need hay and silage through summer.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Looks like a good day out, but arranging BNE connections would be a bit more to consider. And have to suppress a twitch in the Frequent Flyer nerve at seeing the "No points or SC earn" conditions..... ;)

It is a little inconvenient from BNE. Flying to SYD and accommodation for 2 nights.

I think worth the effort if it’s as much fun as the last one, and I know of other Brisbanites who are also going.

Sorry, this experience has sold out

Quite the opposite: great to see that this is being fully supported.

I did note the byline on the QF Page: Stay tuned for details of an additional flight and other initiatives

Regards,

BD

Damn!! I went on the last one and it was an excellent day, supporting an excellent cause, but didn’t get an email. I would have jumped at the chance of going again.

Isn't a bit strange to be jumping on a c02 producing flight to raise money for a drought caused by climate change?

When I heard I immediately said no to doing it again. I pump my money into LRE in other ways. Plus, it clashes with the AFF Gathering.

What do brisvegwegians do… drive ??

Already replied by many, but I flew down for the previous one on the morning of. Was a great atmosphere.

Unfortunately we will be in India

Unless the date listed is wrong, you're also listed as attending the AFF Gathering in Adelaide on this date?? :p

I’m booked on the LRE flight. I went on the last one and it was an absolutely amazing experience, didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger on this one. The TMW trip sounds amazing too.
Good on QF for doing these trips.

Couldn’t agree more. I had so much fun and couldn’t stop smiling all day.
