Qantas Delays/Cancellations

FYI, I can see QF219’s cancellation has been noted. I was on QF94 this morning, VH-ZND got struck by lightning on a really rough descent to Melbourne. Whilst the aircraft was fine, we had staff straight in for inspection whilst we were disembarking.

This is also going to cancel QF93/94 on 01.11. Same flights are also cancelled 31.10 as previously mentioned.

The cancellation of QF10 from LHR (and PER) to MEL on three consecutive days - 30 and 31 October, and 1 November - is a first.

Hopefully there have been spare seats on QF2 and connecting flights to get passengers on routes like SIN-PER, BNE and MEL.

On Monday 2 November, the 1115 hours SYD-HKG (A333 VH-QPD, QF127) took off at 1243. Gate arrival should be about 1836 hours, 46 late.

Sister -QPJ is on QF35, the scheduled 1205 hours MEL-SIN up up and away at 1258 with arrival likely 44 minutes late at 1749 in the late afternoon.

-QPG has the task of the 0920 hours BNE-NRT (QF61) airborne at 1124 for estimated gate arrival of 1854, 84 late.

A332 VH-EBL is on the 1035 hours midmorning BNE up to SIN, QF51 that was in the sky at 1123 for a presumed gate arrival at 1706, 31 past the allotted.

B789 VH-ZNH is operating QF27 from SYD across to SCL with forecast gate arrival half an hour tardy at 0935.

Following multiple QF10 cancellations as noted above, -ZNB is running a QF7010, a timetabled 1600 hours Sunday 1 November LHR-PER in the sky at 1735. Arrival should be about 1744 hours on Monday 2, 59 late.

On Tuesday 3 November, B789 VH-ZNN as the 1130 hours LHR-PER QF10 didn't take off until 1514 mid afternoon. Wednesday 4 should see PER gate arrival at about 1559 hours, 224 minutes late. This means the second sector to MEL is likely to arrive at gate at about 2325 hours if all goes well,

The same B789 will operate QF94 that at this stage is optimistically forecast to depart at 0115 on Thursday 5, 150 minutes late., @Quickstatus .

On Thursday 5 November shortly, QF10 from PER (B789 VH-ZNN) arrived in MEL at 0017 hours, 217 minutes late, later than I suggested above.

As is now normal practice, its next flight was QF93 from MEL to LAX, the scheduled 2245 hours that was airborne at 0208 after a quick turnaround of less than two hours. LAX gate arrival became 2047 hours, 162 minutes late.

It will be interesting to see if 'the 93' often, or only occasionally, runs late. My guess is QFi is asking for trouble scheduling what effectively is a LHR-LAX flight (with two intermediate stops via PER and MEL) with minimum turnaround times. 'The 10' had a good timekeeping record when solely operating LHR to PER but adding a second sector, and then the follow-on flight tio Los Angeles introduces complexity.

Friday 6 November finds A388 VH-OQC on the scheduled 1140 hours SYD-SIN (QF81) expected to depart two hours late at 1340 this afternoon.

B738 VH-XZE is operating QF143, the 0855 hours SYD across to AKL that wasn't in the sky until 1029. Arrival at gate should be about 1517 mid afternoon NZ time, 72 minutes late. This will delay QF156 from AKL to MEL by an estimated 65 minutes to a retimed 1610 hours pushback. FR24 suggests its next flight will be QF777 from MEL to PER, the 1845 hours, so expect that tonight to be markedly delayed as the plane has to be towed from the international to the domestic terminal. Rostering aircraft this way is probably unavoidable but it means delays when one flight is late.

UPDATE: 'The 81' is further delayed to an expected mid afternoon 1530 hours from Sydney. This will mean tonight's 2040 hours SIN-SYD QF82 will be at least two hours late departing the Lion City.

QF219 from SIN to LHR (B789 VH-ZNL) is expected to arrive at gate at 0754 hours, 144 minutes late because yesterday, QF773 from MEL to PER was just under two hours late, meaning a tardy departure for QF219's initial PER-SIN sector.

UPDATE: QF81 was airborne at 1547 with SIN gate arrival forecast for 2038 hours, 218 minutes late.

Also on 6 November, B789 VH-ZNM on QF34 from France's CDG to PER arrived at 1027 hours, 27 late, but the next sector, the timetabled 1135 hours to SYD wasn't in the sky until 1340 this arvo. SYD gate arrival should be approximately 2017, 97 minutes late. The aircraft looks to then be rostered on QF73, the 2125 hours SYD-SFO that is likely to be tardy in pushback.

Saturday 7 November sees QF59 (A333 VH-QPJ, the 1200 'high noon' SYD-HND) delayed to a predicted 1350 hours in pushback.

The delay will be longer, as the aircraft is currently operating QF68 from BLR to SYD with forecast gate arrival this afternoon at 1247 hours, 137 minutes late. Yesterday its previous flight, QF67, diverted to Singapore Changi, eventually arriving Bangalore at 1847, 182 minutes late. It used flight number QF7167 for SIN-BLR.

Today's QF67 is also late, with gate arrival for VH-QPI forecast as 1651, 66 minutes late.

Sister plane -QPA is on QF23 from SYD to BKK with its gate arrival to be about 1644 hours, 34 minutes late.

In more on 7 November, QF81 (A388 VH-OQI, the 1140 hours late morning SYD-SIN) took off at 1230 so gate arrival looks like 1736, 36 minutes behind schedule.

QF29 (A333 VH-QPB, the 1105 hours MEL up to HKG) was airborne at 1209 meaning gate arrival becomes 1814, 39 late.

B789 VH-ZND is still out of action after being struck by lightning last Saturday on landing in MEL.
It has been replaced by A332 on the BNE/LAX route in the meantime.

I wonder with this swap - need to unload passengers or more room for them??

Late news from yesterday- QF774 PER MEL flight on 738 - VXK from 1255 Perth departure and 1855 arrival to MEL was cancelled last minute due to a passenger causing trouble on board and involving police

Article made a mistake - 744 is ADL to SYD, 774 is PER to MEL
