Qantas Delays/Cancellations

On Tuesday 7 July 2026, A333 VH-QPL arrived in SYD at 0637 hours, eight minutes early as QF82 from SIN.

However QF81 that it formed, the scheduled 1020 hours SYD-SIN did not take off until 1148 so for the second consecutive day it's more than an hour late with gate arrival likely at about 1802, 67 minutes delayed.
The fleet reliability at least slightly better than yesterday with 4 to 5 of the QFi A333 fleet of 10 facing delays like this won't help with the perception this airline is reliable on A333 service... Yes it is safe, but reliable? NO!

It had to have a new engine fitted at London Heathrow, but it's unclear why A388 VH-OQG that's been there since Friday morning, 3 July hasn't been able to form the 7 July QF2 (which is cancelled).

Perhaps the engine change is taking longer than expected?

Changing an engine does take time, but perhaps the issue is larger than expected - aka more issues after refitting the engine?

@Melburnian1 this should have been added this morning but with conflicting info… delayed to now

QFi A333 delay +1!! Another HKG delay on QF 29 ex MEL on QPH - because of late arrival into MEL as QF30, this flight delayed departure to 1106 instead of 1015, now ETA @ 1827 instead of 1755

Continuing with Tuesday 7 July, A223 VH-X4H is having an "interesting" day.

As QF1253, the 0800 hours BNE down to MEL, it took off at 0837, had a few racecourse-like holding patterns from Cohuna, Victoria south to near Bendigo then diverted to Canberra. While I wasn't at MEL, Port Phillip Bay had quite some fog midmorning so that was probably the reason. It did not take off from CBR until 1345 this afternoon, arriving MEL at 1456 hours, 266 minutes late.

It is now on QF1254, the 1120 hours MEL-BNE, finally taking off at 1635 hours about five hours late.

Cold and foggy in Melbourne today

In more on Tuesday 7 July, QF1, the 1445 hours SYD-SIN-LHR (A388 VH-OQK) is expected to depart shortly at 1730 hours from Sydney. The aircraft arrived this morning as QF2 at 0507 hours so not sure why the afternoon delay.

B789 VH-ZNE on the Monday 6 QF21 from MEL to DFW arrived at gate at 2146 hours, 421 minutes late. It is returning to Melbourne as QF22, the scheduled 2020 hours that on Tuesday 7 took off from Dallas-Fort Worth at 0038, meaning Wednesday 8 arrival at about 0824, 204 minutes behind schedule. If it forms QF93 - rostered tomorrow for a B789 - that 0945 hours service will not be punctual in pushing back.

QF10, the 1155 hours Monday 6 LHR express to PER took off at 1321 so on Tuesday 7 gate arrival became 1252 hours, 67 minutes late for B789 VH-ZNG.

A333 VH-QPE is operating the daytime HND-SYD QF26, the 0655 hours that didn't become airborne until 1014 this morning Japan time. This was partly because QF25 last night did not take off until 2252, arriving Haneda this morning at 0728 hours, 123 minutes late. 'The 26' should be in Sydney at gate at about 2131 hours, 211 minutes late.

The HNL-SYD QF104 with -QPK is arriving in the early evening at a forecast 1911 hours, 41 late.

UPDATE: QF1 was airborne at 1749 hours from Sydney. Arrival at gate in SIN should be at about 0002 on Wednesday 8, 167 minutes late. Normally, QF1 picks up some time compared to the schedule from Singapore to Heathrow.

The PER-JNB QF65 (A332 VH-EBM) is the 1500 hours mid afternoon in the sky at 1538 with gate arrival said to be about 2045 hours, 40 minutes late.

QF2 isn’t cancelled ex LHR on 7 July. It will be operated by OQA.

I think OQG will go to LAX maintenance. QF11 is cancelled Wednesday and the return QF12 isn’t.

No further QF1 cancellations ahead so this is the most likely scenario.
