Qantas Delays/Cancellations

On Tuesday 7 July 2026, A333 VH-QPL arrived in SYD at 0637 hours, eight minutes early as QF82 from SIN.

However QF81 that it formed, the scheduled 1020 hours SYD-SIN did not take off until 1148 so for the second consecutive day it's more than an hour late with gate arrival likely at about 1802, 67 minutes delayed.
The fleet reliability at least slightly better than yesterday with 4 to 5 of the QFi A333 fleet of 10 facing delays like this won't help with the perception this airline is reliable on A333 service... Yes it is safe, but reliable? NO!

It had to have a new engine fitted at London Heathrow, but it's unclear why A388 VH-OQG that's been there since Friday morning, 3 July hasn't been able to form the 7 July QF2 (which is cancelled).

Perhaps the engine change is taking longer than expected?

Changing an engine does take time, but perhaps the issue is larger than expected - aka more issues after refitting the engine?

@Melburnian1 this should have been added this morning but with conflicting info… delayed to now

QFi A333 delay +1!! Another HKG delay on QF 29 ex MEL on QPH - because of late arrival into MEL as QF30, this flight delayed departure to 1106 instead of 1015, now ETA @ 1827 instead of 1755

Continuing with Tuesday 7 July, 223 VH-X4H is having an "interesting" day.

As QF1253, the 0800 hours BNE down to MEL, it took off at 0837, had a few racecourse-like holding patterns from Cohuna, Victoria south to near Bendigo then diverted to Canberra. While I wasn't at MEL, Port Phillip Bay had quite some fog midmorning so that was probably the reason. It did not take off from CBR until 1345 this afternoon, arriving MEL at 1456 hours, 266 minutes late.

It is now on QF1254, the 1120 hours MEL-BNE, finally taking off at 1635 hours about five hours late.
