Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Continuing with Thursday 2 July 2026, QF79, the 0935 hours morning MEL-NRT (A333 VH-QPF) took off at 1021 hours but diverted to BNE, perhaps for a medical? It then was airborne at 1336 hours, a few minutes ago, with NRT gate arrival put back to 2103 hours, 123 minutes late. (Apologies Dmac59: for some reason your post only showed up when I saved this contribution. 1021 hours was takeoff time, not departure).

Sister -QPI on QF29 (1015 hours MEL up to HKG) took off at 1211 with forecast gate arrival 1929 hours, 94 behind.

A332 VH-EBD on QF35, the scheduled 1205 hours 'first division' MEL-SIN was airborne at 1310 this afternoon so arrival is suggested as 1904, 49 minutes late.

Monday 1's QF139, the 1915 hours evening SYD-CHC arrived this morning at 0215 hours, 115 minutes late with B738 VH-VZC. Imagine rocking up to an 0930 hours business meeting after a close to 0400 hours arrival at one's hotel.

Let’s see which flight the QPI will form - definitely delay departure out of HKG - according to flight radar 24 - it’s the 128 to SYD & estimate 2035 departure (highly unlikely!!)

Unexpectedly, the 2255 hours (A388 VH-OQC) Wednesday 1 July QF8 from DFW down to SYD is delayed to an expected 'small hours' pushback at 0230. QF suggests this should mean arrival in SYD on Friday 3 at 1030, 215 minutes late.

There's some chance it might have to be cancelled given what @jb747 said (at least when he was working - unlikely to have changed) about the duty limit for pilots being 20 hours.

On Friday 3 July 2026, QF11, the A380 due to depart SYD at 1750 hours for LAX has been cancelled. While not yet displaying as such, I assume the 2330 hours 3 July QF12 LAX=SYD also gets the boot.

QFi's flight status is now stating that the Wednesday 1 July QF8, the 2255 hours from DFW to SYD, has been delayed to a new proposed departure at the uncomfortable hour of 0230 hours on Friday 3 Texas time. A 1030 hours SYD arrival on Saturday 4 July is the suggestion.

Not a good few hours for the A380 QFi's fleet timeliness.

I almost thought it will be the 4th July flight to SYD - Socceroos game?? 😢!!! Hope they won’t need it!!!

Thursday 2 July's QF11 from SYD to LAX is further delayed to an expected 2010 hours departure, 140 minutes late.

UPDATE: By 2110 AEST, QF11 (A388 VH-OQH) was finally visible on FR24.

Sadly it’s delayed to 1330 on 03/07 - maybe crew hours??

Also QF128 HKG SYD on QPI departed at 2122 instead of 1930, ETA is 0802 instead of 0645

The Thursday 2 July QF11 from SYD to LAX has now been delayed until an expected pushback at 1730 hours on Friday 3 with the flight number changing to QF7011, so it "should" be 20 minutes short of 24 hours late departing Sydney late this afternoon.

Friday 3's 1445 hours QF1 from SYD to SIN and LHR has been delayed to an expected departure at 1625 hours. Looks like it's being formed by A388 VH_OQD that should arrive at its SYD gate (as QF64 from JNB) 44 early at 1411 hours.

QF35 (A333 VH-QPF) is the 1205 hours lunchtime MEL-SIN that should arrive at 1845, half an hour late.

A332 VH-EBA is operating the 1225 hours SYD-MNL QF19 that departed at 1353 with gate arrival likely at about 2020 tonight, 90 minutes late.

The delay to the SYD-SIN QF1 on Friday 3 July was worse than expected. VH-OQD took off at 1751 hours.

SYD is on single runway operations, with departures taking off to the west.

The SYD to LAX 24 hour delayed QF11, operating as QF7011 (A388 VH-OQH, was airborne at 1755 hours with 3 July LAX arrival estimated as 1646 hours, 1596 minutes late.
