Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF79 VH-QPF the 9:35am MEL - NRT departed at 10:21 this morning.
FR24 shows the flight is diverting to BNE, with expected departure from BNE at 1:10pm.
Possible medical.

Continuing with Thursday 2 July 2026, QF79, the 0935 hours morning MEL-NRT (A333 VH-QPF) took off at 1021 hours but diverted to BNE, perhaps for a medical? It then was airborne at 1336 hours, a few minutes ago, with NRT gate arrival put back to 2103 hours, 123 minutes late. (Apologies Dmac59: for some reason your post only showed up when I saved this contribution. 1021 hours was takeoff time, not departure).

Sister -QPI on QF29 (1015 hours MEL up to HKG) took off at 1211 with forecast gate arrival 1929 hours, 94 behind.

A332 VH-EBD on QF35, the scheduled 1205 hours 'first division' MEL-SIN was airborne at 1310 this afternoon so arrival is suggested as 1904, 49 minutes late.

Monday 1's QF139, the 1915 hours evening SYD-CHC arrived this morning at 0215 hours, 115 minutes late with B738 VH-VZC. Imagine rocking up to an 0930 hours business meeting after a close to 0400 hours arrival at one's hotel.

Let’s see which flight the QPI will form - definitely delay departure out of HKG - according to flight radar 24 - it’s the 128 to SYD & estimate 2035 departure (highly unlikely!!)

Unexpectedly, the 2255 hours (A388 VH-OQC) Wednesday 1 July QF8 from DFW down to SYD is delayed to an expected 'small hours' pushback at 0230. QF suggests this should mean arrival in SYD on Friday 3 at 1030, 215 minutes late.

There's some chance it might have to be cancelled given what @jb747 said (at least when he was working - unlikely to have changed) about the duty limit for pilots being 20 hours.

On Friday 3 July 2026, QF11, the A380 due to depart SYD at 1750 hours for LAX has been cancelled. While not yet displaying as such, I assume the 2330 hours 3 July QF12 LAX=SYD also gets the boot.

QFi's flight status is now stating that the Wednesday 1 July QF8, the 2255 hours from DFW to SYD, has been delayed to a new proposed departure at the uncomfortable hour of 0230 hours on Friday 3 Texas time. A 1030 hours SYD arrival on Saturday 4 July is the suggestion.

Not a good few hours for the A380 QFi's fleet timeliness.

I almost thought it will be the 4th July flight to SYD - Socceroos game?? 😢!!! Hope they won’t need it!!!
