On Friday 30 January 2026, QF63, the 0930 hours SYD-JNB (A388 VH-OQI) was airborne at 1059 hours with same day arrival at gate likely at 1548 hours, 48 late.

The QF63 referred to above formed, as usual, QF64 from JNB to SYD that on Friday 30 January took off at 1929 hours with Saturday 31 arrival at gate forecast for 1557 hours, 87 late.

Although Friday 30 January's QF1 arrived SIN at 2048 hours, 47 minutes early, the second sector to LHR scheduled at 2335 hours did not take off until 0214 on Saturday 31. A388 VH-OQB should arrive LHR at about 0809 hours, 114 minutes late. This is the second consecutive day QF1 is more than an hour late, though many other recent days have been punctual.

Continuing with Saturday 31 January, QF102, the 1445 hours mid afternoon NAN-SYD (B738 VH-XZB) took off at 1739 hours so suggested gate arrival tonight becomes 2035 hours, 130 minutes late. This was despite the earlier flight, QF101, only arriving NAN 25 minutes late at 1410 hours.

A388 VH-OQH on the 1615 hours SYD-SIN-LHR QF1 is expected to depart at 1800 hours. The plane has been in Sydney since 0608 hours this morning, arriving as QF8 ex DFW, so unsure why this afternoon''s delay.

QF11 pushed back from the gate at 20.18 - 2.5 hours behind schedule - and the second day in a row it has departed behind schedule.
Certainly did not seem an enjoyable afternoon to be a QF A380 departing SYD with QF1 also late, but the earlier services of QF63 and QF7 mostly on time.

QF691 made one attempt to land at Adelaide but did a goaround after receiving a windshear alert and then diverted to the RAAF base as they had a serious medical emergency onboard and needed to get onto the ground.

On the TV news they said the diversion was due to low fuel. Aren’t all flights carrying enough fuel to allow for holding and diversion to alternate? Edinburgh is not an alternate.

On Sunday 1 February 2026, QF59, the scheduled 1200 'high noon' SYD up to HND in Japan is estimated to depart at 1730 late this afternoon. The plane, A333 VH-QPD arrived on 1 February from CTS (Sapporo) at 0904 hours, 29 minutes late.

I've been sitting in the F lounge since ~1320. They've announced delays to QF1 a few times, just called the boarding not long ago. Haven't said why.

-OQH on Saturday 31 January took off at 1814 hours, arriving SIN on Sunday 1 February at 2229, 54 minutes late. The 2335 hours scheduled second leg to LHR took off at 0043 on Sunday 1, with LHR gate arrival suggested as 0658 hours, 43 late.

A333 VH_QPH is on the 1115 hours SYD-HKG, QF127 that was airborne on Sunday at 1256, so gate arrival is expected at 1849, 59 minutes behind the timetable. Months ago, as @tomlee1986 no doubt noticed, punctuality on the SYD and MEL QFi flights to Hong Kong was quite good, but it's since declined.

'The 19' with VH-QPC is the 1205 hours lunchtime SYD-MNL that was in the sky at 1317 hours: arrival at gate should be half an hour late at 1800 this early evening Manila time.

QF27 (1220 hours SYD across to SCL) has B789 VH-ZNM. It is often timely but not the case today, with pushback expected at 1600 hours. The aircraft had come in from JFK and AKL at 0804 hours, 11 early. QF28 back to SYD will be tardy, though it normally picks up time on the point-to-point schedule.

Last night (Saturday 31) the 1745 hours SYD-LAX with A388 VH-OQC was not airborne until 2042, resulting in same day gate arrival at 1525 hours, 175 late.

On Saturday 31 January 2026, QF8, the 2030 hours DFW down to SYD with A388 VH-OQJ departed at 2153. Monday 2 February gate arrival should be about 0755 hours, an hour late.

While this is a bit off topic, my understanding is that NP travels on staff subload tickets - confirmed in Y with an upgrade subject to availability.

I know someone who travelled with him to HKG a couple of years ago as part of a delegation. J was full on the return sector back to SYD and he found himself in Y, while the rest of the delegation was in J. He allegedly called everyone he could at QF but ultimately found himself at Y and made his displeasure known. He's even rumoured to have chastised anyone who touched the onboard food...

He must have made an absolute packet in designing QF's menus and allowing his name to be constantly featured, the latter so often that some passengers must be heartily sick of seeing 'Neil's....' As the years roll on, I wonder if his name recognition in the community is declining? Heaps of individuals migrate to Australia: I reckon very few would know who he was, and even if some did, their 'care factor' could be zero or close to it, especially when confronted with some of his criticised 'creations'.

Is there a clause in his contract/agreement that he NOT travel on competing airlines that offer the same route (nonstop or via their hub) as QFi?

If he's only definitely booked in whY - and even that's subject to a seat being available - and there was no J available, and no such clause as referred to above - wouldn't he have the moolah to travel on (say) CX? I agree with him that overnight international flights on almost any airline in whY are often tortuous, so I can 'sort of' understand his desire to be in J., even though on a HKG to SYD flight you'd be lucky to get four hours sleeping time given dinner/supper and later, breakfast means the cabin lights are often on full bore, something that just doesn't happen with the privacy of a railway proper sleeping berth. @drron has the correct approach in declining to use overnight flights ex Asia, but as discussed extensively on AFF, the choice of daytime flights southeastbound isn't huge.

(I'm assuming 'the delegation' was nothing to do with QF food).

I haven't met the man and it's not good of me to prejudge - God ought do that - but allowing myself to be unwisely imperfect, he sounds like a real prat, full of himself.
