Qantas Delays/Cancellations

A332 VH-EBA that ran empty from ADL to MEL on Christmas Day as QF6004 appears to be undertaking another test flight, this time on Saturday 27 as QF6106. It flew down to Bass Strait and then back to MEL via Foster and Cape Paterson.
better to test the aircraft intensively then have further issues with passengers on board

Also on Saturday 27 December 2025, QF93, the 1200 'high noon' MEL-LAX was not airborne until 1414 so same day gate arrival should be about 0900 hours, 95 minutes late.

OH-LTM appears to have spent an additional unscheduled night in SIN as it the QF292 SIN-SYD was cancelled last night, and this has also affected Saturday's (27 December) QF291 SYD-SIN as well.
There may be an on-going issue with LTM in Singapore as tonight's QF292 SIN-SYD has also been cancelled, which will in turn affect tomorrow's (28 December, Sunday) QF291 SYD-SIN.

Quick update - no one seemed to know this one - Qf169 from MEL to CHC departed at 2010 instead of 1850 - now it will be just under 1 hr late on arrival to 0101 instead of 0010 - aircraft is XZP (retro 737 livery)

@Melburnian1

One I missed on Saturday 27 December was QF105, the recently introduced MEL-HNL timetabled to depart at 1640 hours but which did not take off with A332 VH_EBN until 2135, arriving HNL at gate same day at 1020 hours, 245 minutes behind schedule. The aircraft formed QF106, the 0815 hours in the sky at 1243 with consequent Sunday 28 forecast arrival at gate becoming 2100 hours, 260 late.

QF112 from Auckland to Perth has diverted and just landed in Sydney. At 9.58am AEDT Operated by VH-EBS (oneworld livery).

Looks like the same aircraft is due to continue the flight onto Perth leaving Sydney at 10.45am AEDT, so suspect medical?

On Tuesday 30 December 2025, QF104 from HNL down to SYD (A333 VH-QPL, one of its two dry leased aircraft from Finnair) should arrive at gate at around 1911 hours, 51 late.

@mbe1510 , thank you for the above report.

The diverted QF112 from AKL is displaying as a 1500 hours departure from SYD to PER on Tuesday 30 December, so perhaps it wasn't a 'medical' diversion.

In more on Tuesday 30 December, QF59, the 1200 'high noon' SYD-HND in Japan (A333 VH-QPD) took off at 1252 hours with arrival at gate predicted as 2049, 49 late.

Sister aircraft -QPK is on the 1205 hours SYD-MNL QF19 that should arrive 32 late at 1802 early this evening local time.

It was airborne from SYD at 1536 hours on Tuesday 30 December with PER gate arrival forecast as 1714 AWST.

In more on Tuesday 30 December, QF183 from BNE to NLK (B738 VH-VZQ) is the 1135 hours not airborne until 1647. Arrival looks like 300 minutes late at 2045 mid evening.

On Wednesday 31 December 2025, A332 VH-EBJ on QF35, the 1205 hours MEL-SIN took off at 1320 so gate arrival should be about 1755 hours, 50 minutes late.

Because it was more than two hours late arriving Perth ex Melbourne as QF767, A332 VH-EBD as QF71, the 1030 hours PER-SIN was airborne at 1141, arriving at gate at 1649 hours, 54 minutes late.

Thanks for all the hard work throughout this past year… happy new year!! And hopefully less work for all of us with MORE on time departures!!

A small number of observations for the last few weeks:

QFi's punctuality is variable, but in the last couple of weeks it has improved. Touch wood. Early January will be a good test as for instance more of the A380s seem to be scheduled most days. Goodness knows when A380 VH-OQC will again carry passengers: it is still in LAX.

Mainland Chinese and Taiwanese airlines largely operate on time or early, as does CX based in Hong Kong.

JQi's punctuality is poor, especially with its B788s. Are the latter being worked unrealistically hard?

TransTasman evening departures from Australia on QFi and NZ stand out for often being delayed. This can be a result of delays building during the day, and can mean arrivals at airports such as AKL and CHC after 0025 hours, so arriving at a city hotel after 0200 hours looms. If at all possible, best to avoid these 1830-1900 hour departures for KiwiLand.

Surprisingly "the world's best airline" QR has a few minor delays. Perhaps unsurprisingly, an airline now on my no-fly small list, MH, is worse. TR can also be rather variable despite being an SQ subsidiary.

The punctuality of the three main domestic carriers is variable, but often appalling, and not just when weather is adverse. 25 to 40 per cent of flights on many major routes arrive more than 15 minutes late, with many delays being above half an hour and quite a few more than an hour.
