Qantas Delays/Cancellations

4hr weather related delay for the scheduled 1740 QF1961 ASP-DRW last evening - all boarded on time then an airport standstill as storms came through. No aerobridges in ASP so pax stayed on board. Eventual departure just prior to 2200

Sydney’s afternoon storms are creating some delays, including the diversion of QF146 (B738 VH-XZA) AKL-SYD and QF595 OOL-SYD (B738 VH-VYH) which are both currently diverting to CBR

QF26 HND-SYD also diverted to CBR

No worries today - most are already on their way back to Sydney.
That's too late for the last SYD-MEL flight.
Theres a lot of people on QF26 that connects onto QF499.

But hey they get to test out the new $60 Airport to CBD flat fare.
Edit: FYI we were given $120 Cabcharge last time for the tax fare to the CBD. Meter ran $108. This was at 12:45am after landing at approximately 11:30pm.

On 3 November QF 164 WLG-SYD managed to arrive a bit early, just after 5 pm. How did it manage that when others were diverted?

I live near the airport and the worst of the storms didn't hit till after 5pm, so QF164 would've landed whilst the weather was still clear. QF 146 from Auckland entered a hold off the coast at about 630pm which was when the storms where at their worst. It looks like it held for a while before going to Canberra. Just a bit of luck in terms of arrival times vs when the storm came through the airport I guess.

Yes, I noticed QF146 doing doughnuts in the sky! I could have been on 164 so would have been OK.

02 Nov saw QF74, the 8.15pm SFO-SYD service not airborne until 11.30pm, 195mins late. Gate arrival at Sydney 8.55am against the timetabled 6.05am

Today's (6/11) QF1 scheduled to depart an hour ago has been pushed back 2 hours now expecting a 5.55pm departure. Operating the flight is OQD, which arrived into SYD this morning at 07.42am as QF12.

QF11 6/11 and QF12 6/11 cancelled.

In better news, VH-OQA has left Abu Dhabi and is currently bound for LAX as QF6017.

On Thursday 13 November 2025, QF59 (A333 VH_QPA), the 1200 'high noon' SYD-HND did not take off until 1643 hours. Gate arrival is suggested as 0011 hours on Friday 14, 251 minutes late. QPA had been similarly late on yesterday's QF26 from HND down to SYD.

Took off at 1215 - 1 hr late, ETA is 25 mins late at 1815 - still a possibility to make up in the air
I am watching QF127 taxi past my hotel window having landed here in HKG at about 1808 local. It is passing behind QF 30 at Gate 7, which is preparing for its departure for MEL in about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Eye witness update.

Flight got back out to Melbourne 40 mins late but still on time arrival to Melbourne at 0752

On Saturday 15 November 2025, QF19 from SYD to MNL (A332 VH-EBB), the 1205 hours, took off at 1311 hours and after a significant holding pattern arrived the MNL gate at 1828 hours, 58 minutes late.

On Sunday 16, A333 VH-QPL has the honour. It was airborne at 1310 with (at this stage) arrobal likely 34 late at 1804, which probably assumes no holding pattern.

On Monday 17 November, A333 VH_QPL arrived in nSYD (ex MNL) as QF20 at 0716 hours, 36 minutes late.

It is returning to MNL on the QF19, the 1205 hours that was airborne at 1323 with gate arrival likely at about 1817 hours, 47 late.

Meanwhile QF127, the scheduled 1115 hours late morning offering from SYD to HKG with A333 VH-QPJ wasn't in the air until 1300 hours. Gate arrival should be 1906 hours, 76 minutes tardy.

QF143, the morning timetabled 0855 hours SYD-AKL (B738 VH-VZC) pointed skywards at 1007 hours, arriving in the northern harbour city at 1455, 50 minutes behind schedule. It has formed QF156, the 1505 hours mid afternoon AKL down to MEL airborne at 1638 with an 1830 hours gate arrival suggested, which will be 75 minutes late. This makes it highly likely that an evening Melbourne to New Zealand QFi flight will arrive in Kiwiland after midnight its time.

QF291 on Saturday 15 November arrived SIN 73 minutes late at 1823, yesterday it pulled up at the gate at an estimated 1754 (54 late) and today with Finnair's A333 OH-LTM it should arrive at about 1734 hours, 34 late as its scheduled 1130 hours ex SYD did not see takeoff until 1227 hours.

Sister aircraft OH-LTS is on QF295, the 1020 hours SYD-BKK in the air at 1144 with gate arrival likely at around 1700 hours, 50 late.

A332 VH-EBC is operating QF51, the 1035 hours midmorning BNE up to SIN airborne at 1154. It should pull in to its SIN gate at approximately 1741 hours, 71 behind.

Sister EBG is on the 1205 hours MEL-SIN, QF35, airborne at 1307 for projected gate arrival at 1755, 50 late.

The 1420 hours BNE-MNL (QF97, A332 VH-EBB) had not become airborne by 1555 hours so is likely to be more than half an hour late arriving at its gate in the Philippine capital.
