Qantas Delays/Cancellations

4hr weather related delay for the scheduled 1740 QF1961 ASP-DRW last evening - all boarded on time then an airport standstill as storms came through. No aerobridges in ASP so pax stayed on board. Eventual departure just prior to 2200

Sydney’s afternoon storms are creating some delays, including the diversion of QF146 (B738 VH-XZA) AKL-SYD and QF595 OOL-SYD (B738 VH-VYH) which are both currently diverting to CBR

No worries today - most are already on their way back to Sydney.
That's too late for the last SYD-MEL flight.
Theres a lot of people on QF26 that connects onto QF499.

But hey they get to test out the new $60 Airport to CBD flat fare.
Edit: FYI we were given $120 Cabcharge last time for the tax fare to the CBD. Meter ran $108. This was at 12:45am after landing at approximately 11:30pm.

On 3 November QF 164 WLG-SYD managed to arrive a bit early, just after 5 pm. How did it manage that when others were diverted?

I live near the airport and the worst of the storms didn't hit till after 5pm, so QF164 would've landed whilst the weather was still clear. QF 146 from Auckland entered a hold off the coast at about 630pm which was when the storms where at their worst. It looks like it held for a while before going to Canberra. Just a bit of luck in terms of arrival times vs when the storm came through the airport I guess.

Yes, I noticed QF146 doing doughnuts in the sky! I could have been on 164 so would have been OK.
