Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF81 has been upgraded to an A380 for the next two days from an A330 due to the shortage of A330 aircraft.

Also it hasn’t been published yet but QF107 will be delayed as it’s being formed by inbound QF108.

The 19 hour delayed QF4 from HNL arriving SYD at 1240 will form QF117 departing at 1430.

The QF130 that we have no idea when it will arrive yet will form QF3.

All other A330 flights should be able to operate on schedule as far as I can see.

Yes, confusing for simpletons (of which you are NOT one.) Jokes aside, I haven't looked at Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc: wonder if any complaints are feeding through?
Not much except in one tweet the airline said QF51 was cancelled for operational reasons
Others were the usual:
Missing bags/damaged bags
Delays - but no details
FA spilt coffee on a passenger
Involuntary downgrade from J

This passenger had to be accommodated SYD-DOH-CDG-LHR after QF1?? or his flight (whatever it is) cancellation: No QF1 issues AFAIK but maybe an upcoming cancellation in 2-3 days???

QF51 was cancelled because QF123 returned the BNE after take off. They switched to the aircraft that was due to operate QF51 and the other aircraft remained unserviceable.!

The much delayed Sunday 15 April QF129 arrived PVG at 0216 on Monday 16 instead of 1825 Sunday - 631 minutes late. QF130 then departed at 0340 so arrival remains this afternoon at a predicted 1620 hours, 635 minutes behind schedule.

This should be in plenty of time to form QF3 tonight as per the redoubtable Flyerqf's advice above.

On Monday 16, QF405 (0630 hours SYD - MEL, A332 VH-EBO) has had a late start with it still queueing for takeoff as at 0818. This will delay arrival until at least 0930 hours against the timetable that says 0755.

The 1030 hours Saturday 14 April QF4 from HNL down to SYD that instead departed at 0700 hours on Sunday 15 should arrive on Monday 16 at 1330 instead of 1725 on Sunday. As a result QF117 from SYD to HKG is expected to depart (after absolute minimum turnaround) at 1445, 25 minutes late. It has not been a happy three days for 'the 117.'

Flyerqf suggested above that QF107 today (Monday) would be formed by the arriving QF108 from PEK in SYD but these have changed to different gate numbers so it may no longer be the case.

In further on Monday 16 August, QF96, the 2355 hours Saturday 14 LAX - MEL (B789 VH-ZNC) is even later than predicted as at 0943, it was in a holding pattern, so arrival will be at about 1010 hours, 105 minutes behind schedule.

...All other A330 flights should be able to operate on schedule as far as I can see.

This may have something to do with the QF108 perhaps not forming QF107 this arvo, but QF23, the Monday 16 August 0950 hours SYD - BKK has been altered to depart at 1430 hours.

BKK arrival should be at 2125 instead of 1640. QF24 tonight should push back in BKK at 2230 (260 late) with Tuesday 17 arrival in SYD estimated as 1040, 255 late.

The 1015 hours SYD - KIX departed at 1115 with A333 VH-QPD, taking off at 1140. Arrival should be 45 late at 1955 hours this evening.

The B744 on QF63 (1055 SYD - JNB long flight) pushed back at 1154; arrival should be 35 late at 1735.

QF73 (1245 hours B744 SYD - SFO) is expected to depart 45 minutes late.

Continuing with Monday 16 April, QF7, the 1235 hours SYD - DFW departed at 1329. Same day arrival should be at 1350, 50 late.

On the third day when it has been either cancelled (Sunday) or delayed (Saturday and today), QF117's departure tardiness has extended from the 1420 schedule to at least 1525.

UPDATE: QF117 departed SYD at 1527.

Earlier, QF81 (SYD - SIN) departed at 1110 hours, 55 late. This has been increased in size to an A388. A 36 minute late arrival at 1726 this afternoon local time is on the cards.

QF35, the 1155 hours MEL - SIN first flight of the day from QF departed 68 late. Arrival is predicted for 1850, 55 late.

Due to late arrival of QF15 ex BNE, the QF11 on Sunday 15 April across the USA was expected to depart at 1100 but did so 18 minutes later: it arrived at JFK at 1919, 159 late.

However QF12 did not then depart until 2213 from New York. It is estimated to arrive at LAX at 0100 on Monday 16 April, the latest it has been for quite a while (disregarding cancellations.)

The connecting '12' is then predicted to depart the movie capital at 0140, meaning Tuesday 17 April arrival at 0935 hours, 185 late.

Sunday's QF16 is forecast to depart LAX at 0255 hours on Monday, 215 minutes tardy with arrival on Tuesday 17 at 0940, also 215 minutes behind schedule. This will delay QF15 ex BNE tomorrow if the same B744 is used.

As often happens, QF94 was allowed to depart (four minutes late at 2244) on Sunday from LAX. MEL-bound passengers may be put on QF96 if there are seats, as this has been delayed to an estimated pushback ex LAX of 0140 hours today (i.e. Monday 16.) This is 105 minutes late, meaning predicted MEL Tuesday arrival of 0950 hours, 85 minutes late.

UPDATE: On Monday 16, QF12 arrived LAX at 0053 hours, 233 minutes late.

QF96, the B789, then departed LAX at 0157 on Monday 16 for an expected Tuesday 17 April arrival in MEL at 1039 hours, 134 minutes tardy.

QF12 to SYD followed closely out of the starting blocks, with pushback at 0202 meaning Tuesday forecast arrival of 1000 hours 'on the dot', 210 late.

As expected, QF16 from LAX to BNE was the final east coast-bound flight away, departing at the unseemly hour of 0305 this morning for Tuesday 17 anticipated arrival at the gate of 0943 hours, 218 minutes tardy.

Also tomorrow (Tuesday) QF15 is displaying as departing on time at 1010 hours from BNE (from the same gate at which the inbound QF16 is arriving.) This is impossible, so unless things change and a spare B744 is ferried up from SYD, expect departure of 'the 15' at around the 1125 hours mark if all goes well. No JohnPhelan episodes of passengers at the 'barrrrrrr...' please.

Continuing with Monday 16 April 2018, QF95, the 2140 hours MEL - LAX departed at 2241. Same day arrival should be at 1935 hours, 35 late. QF10 had arrived at 2012, 17 late from PER, so lost time during the stop in MEL.

For the last few days QFi's performance has been terrible, timekeeping wise. Safety's a given: arriving on or very close to time is important.

Bad night at HKG for SYD flights.

The 1hr delayed QF118 looks like it will beat out the 4+hr delayed QF128 by some margin.

Surprisingly the lounge is pretty quiet, the MEL and BNE flights got out on time.

I only came over from The Deck at 11pm and the pork had already been packed away.

On Tuesday 17 April 2018, QF24, the overnight BKK - SYD that departed on Monday at 2338 hours (328 minutes late) should arrive at 1148, 323 late. This aircraft (A332 VH-EBG) looks then to be forming QF107, the 1210 hours SYD - PEK that has been altered to depart at the expected time of 1315 hours, 65 minutes late. Arrival in PEK is forecast for 2315, an hour behind schedule.

A333 VH-QPF that had the aircon problems on QF568 a few days ago returned to service on Tuesday 17, operating a punctual QF503, the 0635 hours morning BNE down to SYD.

QF27 SYD-SCL has departure delayed from 11:35 to 13:30. They told me it is due to late arrival of aircraft - not sure which route it was on but it was not QF28

Further to moa999's prescient comment above, QF128 on Monday 15 April ex HKG, the 2000 hours, did not depart until 0104 so SYD arrival on Tuesday 16 has become 1137 hours, 282 late. B744 VH-OEG is the aircraft.

QF118 is arriving at a predicted 1130, 40 late with A333 VH-QPC.

Despite QF19 on Monday 15 being only 17 minutes late in arriving at 1847 hours, QF20 last night, the 2000 hours MNL - SYD did not depart until 2236. Arrival on Tuesday 16 April was at 0834 hours, 144 minutes tardy. VH-EBM was the A332.

The perenially late QF23 has been delayed in its SYD departure from 0950 to beyond 1020 hours. meanwhile, as usual, TG476, the 1000 hours SYd - BKK (B744 HS-TGG) is winging its way to teh Thai capital, having taken off at 1010 hours that is slightly ahead of time.

The deterioration in QF's QF23/24 timekeeping has been profound during the past year. This previously mostly punctual route is mired wih many examples of flights that are more than an hour late, and a huge contrast to the excellent punctuality TG enjoys even if on the above flight it still has a B744 (although the one today is the youngest in the fleet of 10, at 14.5 years old.)

UPDATE: QF23 departed at 1033 and took off at 1046 with the aircraft that returned to service this morning in BNE (see above), VH-QPF. Arrival should be at 1705 hours in BKK, 25 late.

Continuing with Tuesday 16 April, QF16 arrived in BNE at 0943 instead of its timetabled early morning 0605 hours. Consequently, the 1010 hours BNE - LAX (QF15) has been delayed until an expected 1145 hours. LAX arrival is estimated as 0730, 90 minutes tardy.

In turn this will delay the Tuesday QF11 across the USA as it has an 0820 hours pushback scheduled. QF12 is highly likely to be late ex JFK on Tuesday night, and then QF12 (the A388) and QF16 will also probably be delayed ex LAX on Tuesday night USA time.

QF27 SYD-SCL has departure delayed from 11:35 to 13:30. They told me it is due to late arrival of aircraft...

Also on Tuesday 17 April 2018, QF63, the 1055 SYD - JNB is delayed until an expected 1300 in its pushing back, meaning likely arrival at 1850 instead of the timetabled 1700.

This will mean QF64 tonight (South African time) will also be tardy.

The A388 from SYD to DFW, QF7 is also tardy with departure anticipated at 1335, an hour late, meaning arrival at 1335, 35 late.

QF127, the 1035 hours SYd - HKG departed 69 minutes late at 1144; arrival looks to be at about 1838, 38 late in the early evening.

Flagship QF1 (an A388) is not departing at the usual 1555 hours this afternoon, but at 2030 tonight - 275 minutes past the allotted. The SIN stop is estimated as 0230 (Wednesday 18 April) to 0400 (respectively 255 and 245 minutes behind schedule) with LHR arrival at an expected 1035, 220 minutes late.

Truly a poor few days for QF.

The bad news for HKG-SYD seem to continue, I just had a text message with the following content: "We've had to change your flight QF128 on 17APR at 2000 from Hong Kong. Review and confirm at qantas.com/yourbooking or in the App."

The app shows a delay in departure to 00.50am tomorrow morning, my frequent flyer account displays the flight as on time and QF's flight status agrees with the app. HKIA's website does not display a delay, Sydney Airport's website does.

Looks like a very long layover in HKG for me then, instead of the originally scheduled three hours if Cathay Dragon is on time from Xiamen. Lots of time to sample the various lounges though I'd rather be on my way as scheduled.

Not sure what the reason for the delay is, QF127 is only marginally late and I would have thought this aircraft forms QF128...
