Well QF 16 has been cancelled from LAX to BNE
So this one 747 maybe go to SYD
Hopefully more information will come out before LAX arrival
Appears it will be about 6 hours delay
 
They've pushed back QF16 to depart 0240 - probably possible before the diversion to DFW.

QF12 making its way back to LAX at the moment, due in at 0325. Poor souls in for a late one.

I imagine that would be part of the problem
We have now boarded... hope we leave soon...about 6 and half hours or so delay.
We have to collect bags at LAX. Further information will be provided on flight to LAX
 
QF11 did better than QF had suggested, with this Wednesday 6 December LAX - deviation via DFW - JFK trip arriving at 2252 hours.

With VIP AFFer mrsterryn on board, QF12 (B744 VH-OEH) then departed JFK at 0102 hours with estimated LAX arrival at 0335 hours, 395 minutes late. While observations are not exhaustive, this is the first time in five years that I can recall it arriving at LAX post 0130 hours (when it has not been cancelled, or delayed a full day), so most unusual.

The 2320 hours Wednesday 6 QF16 from LAX to BNE has been cancelled.

QF12 from LAX to SYD (A388 VH-OQJ) is displaying as departing at midnight LAX time, 90 minutes late although as I write it is 0017 hours in the movie city.

The 1120 hours BNE - LAX tomorrow (Friday 8 December) has unsurprisingly been cancelled, which presumably means VH-OEH may operate QF11 and QF12 across from LAX to JFK and return as this aircraft looks to be terminating in LAX in a short while ex JFK.

This all can get confusing given the time differences with Oz, but the take out message is further problems with a B744. Unfortunately for QF there have been many delays with the B744s of late. If these continue into the absolute peak travel period in a week or so (starting on Saturday with the re launch of the brief seasonal thrice weekly STD - YVR - SYD flights QF75/QF76, many passengers will be adversely affected.

On Thursday 7 December, QF117 from SYD to HKG (B744 VH-OEI) departed 217 minutes late at 1642 with arrival predicted for 2300 tonight local time, 225 late. QF118 back overnight to SYD should depart HKG four hours late at 0115 hours on Friday 8 December, arriving at 1220 hours rather than 0845.

While gate allocations may alter, this Friday 8 late arrival from HKG looks like delaying the 1305 hours SYD - HKG B744 (the same aircraft) to about 1410 in its pushback.

On Thursday 7 December, QF10 from DXB departed 42 minutes late at 0147 hours with expected MEL arrival at 2215, 50 minutes late.

This will moderately delay QF9 tonight ex MEL, but often it picks up time on a gate-to-gate basis on the schedule to DXB (and also sometimes by cutting down the stop duration in DXB, or on the run to LHR.)

Further to the lateness of QF12 JFK to LAX passengers have been rerouted via many and varied itineraries
New Zealand onto Brisbane.
San Francisco onto Sydney
Some are on QF12 tonight departing LAX 10.30pm
Arrival was about 3.30ish am
Qantas staff looked a tad tired
Shuttles are taking people to various local hotels

Other half was meant to by flying on QF15 today, which is cancelled. What was weird, they automatically moved her flight to go via Dubai! It was a classic award J, and they maintained that all on EK metal. If it was me, I'd have taken that for the joy ride, but she's a nervous flyer, so I managed to get onto Plat team and they got her on the last seat available on QF93 (albeit, tomorrow). Still arrives the same time, about 20 hrs less time in the air!
 
Friday 8 December sees QF2 from DXB to SYD (A388 VH-OQD) that yesterday took off 70 minutes after its 0935 hours pushback time arriving at 0721 hours, 51 late.

Without connecting with the QF12 ex JFK that arrived LAX at 0331 on Thursday 7, the much discussed Wednesday 6 December QF12 from LAX to SYD departed at 0053 hours on Thursday 7, 143 minutes late with arrival estimated at 1052, 142 late. Aircraft is VH-OQJ. FR24 is confused with the flight listed twice: one of the listings shows a SYD landing at '0137 hours.'

In further on 8 December, long haul QF27 from SYD to SCL is expected to depart 25 late at 1315 hours with same day arrival at 1140, half an hour behind.

The 1225 hours SYD - MNL, QF19, should depart half an hour behind time.

QF460, Mel-Syd (Dreamliner) cancelled today.
I used points to upgrade to J to experience the new plane.
Now in row 3 on a 737.
Waste of points.
 
Updating milehighclub's post, the sole B789 VH-ZNA is on Saturday 9 December operating as empty working QF6116, taking off from SYD at 0757 and looking like arriving in MEL at about 0912 at its gate.

Subsequently, QF422 (1000 MEL up to SYD) departed at 1037 and took off at 1054 hours with this B789. It should arrive at 1204, 39 minutes late.

The B744 on QF63 from SYD to JNB is predicted to depart 55 minutes late at 1230 but arrive only 25 minutes late at 1700 hours, same day.

Friday 8 December's QF9 from MEL (the 2325 hours) departed 53 minutes late. Arrival in DXB is forecast for 0720 hours on Saturday 9, 50 minutes late but by reducing time on the ground in DXB and/or the fgate-to-gate DXB - LHR sector time, a punctual or early arrival is possible.

UPDATE: QF63 departed SYD (Saturday 9) at 1226 hours, 51 late with forecast JNB arrival 1709, which would be 34 late.

Later on Saturday 9 December, QF9 from DXB (that departed 25 late at 0139 hours) should arrive at 2210, 45 late. This will delay QF9.

A B744 flight scheduled shortly thereafter, QF63 (1135 SYD - JNB) is predicted to depart two hours late with arrival at 1815 hours, 100 minutes late. This will delay QF64, the overnight back to SYD.

The 1305 hours SYD - HKG (QF117) is suggested as departing 35 minutes tardy this afternoon.
