QANTAS Cyber Incident

Do you log into your bank account with your QFF number? Not sure how someone is supposed to log into your bank

My comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek. Nevertheless, having someone’s email address, DOB, home address and phone number, anything is possible for those who have the technical ability.

Seems to have been more than just a couple. Strange glitches. Now sorted.

It’s bullshit.
All my details except a credit card. And I get an apology. Nah not good enough.

Exactly.
An apology does not cut it
They now have enough details to do what they want.

Important bit:
It’s not about credit card details. They can be cancelled.
It’s the fact this happened and how?
Name and other details taken is bad enough.

It also the fact an email comes out and says basically “oh sorry”.
Not good enough.

Looking forward to that free return trip first class to Doha.

How do we know that the Qantas email detailing our level of intimacy (you're f*&%$d, but how deep) is actually from Qantas. The hacker knows as much about each of us as does Qantas. For all we know these email come directly from the hackers.

This Cyber incident is getting out of hand. At first I received an email from QF stating someone has my name, QFF number and address and I thought, "well that's the run of the mill data breach. Nothing to worry about!"

I just received an email from Qantas and the list of items has expanded as they have continued their investigation, some of which I didn't even realize they had (emphasis added):
  • Address
  • Name
  • Email address
  • Qantas Frequent Flyer number
  • Tier
  • Passport Number
  • Citizenship
  • Blood Type
  • Mother’s Maiden Name
  • Alternate Breakfast Main Course Option at Chairman’s Lounge
  • Points balance
  • Status Credits
• Phone number

Yes Ive also had this lucky text. Havn't flown Qantas for years. A free airfare isn't going to cut it. Ive had my email handle for 30 years. don't want to change it.
No more talking to overseas phone centres for me. Ask to be transfered to NZ or Oz or hang up and keep trying to get a local connection. Its bad enough that the companies don't even employ people who can speak clear and coherent English any more. Now this!
