eSims, what is your experience.

Just had a look at Roamless with a view to getting set up for a trip coming, and noticed they have a "New" business option which I am investigating. Seems to simply be multiple people all sharing the one set of credit. Looks to be great for multiple people (possibly a couple) and mulitple devices, hopefully avoiding the need for separate blocks of credit and multiple orphaned amounts. Looks like what I need for low daily usage across a couple of people and possibly multiple devices, across multiple countries but with uncertain data use for any one person or device.

Only way to set up seems to be via a contact form, so I have sent that off and see what happens.
You will have to keep us updated.

You can also look at Citrus Mobile.

Minimum top up is $4.
First esim is free.
Additional esims are $2.45/each on the same account.

Pretty cheap rates ie.
Australia : 0.92$ per gig using Optus.
US : 0.97$ per gig using T-Mobile.

Yes, I have amaysim as my primary local number. I looked at them briefly and saw that promo but it wasn’t entirely clear if that was for the first month (usually $30?) or for top ups. I’ll looked again!
Use your referral link in your amaysim portal to buy your friend's sim card - you'll both get $50 each credited and you can still get the promo pricing for that new line ($12 for the first 28 days) on a physical sim or esim.

Just need to leave auto-renewal on for purchase - can toggle it off once the line is active with the $50 credit in your account.

First month only, which is great for tourists, but a bit awkward if they're here for more than 28 days.

Yes, that was one I was going to look at. I see they do eSIM and $28 for a month.

“$2 sim” usually means a physical SIM. But I’ll look to see if they have eSIM (and Woolies while I’m at it).
Interesting Aldi never used to do esims from recollection

An update on Roamless Business.

This is not going to be for everyone, but could be useful. It is brand new (and not fully functioned as yet). The link to request information results in an email and an invitation to schedule a meeting with a sales rep (via Google meet). I gave it a go.

The sales rep I was talking to is in Qatar. Got a powerpoint demo, and a sales pitch. The whole offer has only been out there for a couple of weeks. At the moment, the only payment / topup is via Swift transfer - but Credit Cards are coming in a couple of weeks.

Bascially you can set up any number of "users" (= eSim effectively) on the company account. You define a policy (default or for each user) as to how much credit is transferred to that user - both initially, or monthly, and any top up amount (and number of top ups per month). This is stated to occur when balance gets low - but low is not defined.

Each individual account is going to end up with an amount potentially orphaned against it (whatever is above that "low" balance that triggers a top up. Top up allows $1 (everything is $US)., but it will all come down to that low amount.

At this stage, there is only one policy, and adding users is based on email domain - everyone needs an email on the same company domain. To get set up, they wanted proof of company, address, businessa activity and a few things. So if you have a company and your own domain (and can manage multiple email addresses) then this has possibilities - but for individuals with a couple of devices, I would look elsewhere.

Adding your own data packs, roamless numbers and lots of the other features of Roamless are listsed as coming to business soon - so it could become quite full featured.

The potential upside is the eSims are free, there is lots more coming, and if the orhpaned amount is low (hopefully $US1) it can be treated as the cost of the SIM. I will wait for credit card top up to come, then give it a bit of a go and post another update, as it is not going to cost me much, but it is pretty clear this is really targetted at larger businesses, and is not going to be flexible enough to be leveraged by the typical AFFer
