Qantas customer care - doesn't

I see they've moved on from their standard "the seat is faulty" lie.

We need to start a thread "a$$holes that took my seat"

There was a similar thread a while ago. Several of us identified a well known former (then current) rugby executive as the owner of the cough that was occupying seats we had chosen on international flights.

Next time it happens to me, my camera phone might get some use.

For sure. I'm the sort that would rather be told up front... a CL took your seat.. but you can understand why they wouldn't want to do that. Perhaps an agent misread the internal code for CL and confused it with wheelchair pax.
Actually I don't understand.

Here is a very easy answer to Chairmans' Lounge and Platinums Ones regarding their favourite seats.

"Sorry sir but another of our very important frequent flyers has had that seat allocated for many months. Would you like 5D instead?"

Simple solution to a problem that should not be that complex in the first place. But no there are people out there who think they are better than others and deserve to be treated better. Not how I see it.

Sounds like a repeat offender...ex-banker and Chairman of a large laundromat?

Unfortunately this is becoming par for the course with Qantas.

Still no response regarding bonus points 4 weeks later when I was promised a call back.

Actually, a message was left on your mobile this afternoon.

Please let me know if you didn't receive this so we can try again tomorrow or Monday.

Red Roo, seeing you are here.
Here is a small request, yes, that 767 from ADL to MEL got substituted on Wed 17 Dec 14, I was wondering if at all possible, that a message can be sent to scheduling that that 767 to fly SYD to MEL on Tue 23 Dec 14 be left as it is?
A one and only request from me.
Might be an impossibility to guarantee, but if at all possible, before they go out of QF service, I would like to fly that plane one last time.
Its QF401, and I have made a real effort to go to SYD to meet the flight.
Fares between now and New Years Day are already very expensive.

A one and only request from me.

Perhaps save your "one and only request" for something else. Aircraft types can't be guaranteed due to various operational reasons, some of which are beyond our control.

In the interim, I'll keep my paws crossed for you too. :)

It wasn't that long ago you were complaining about sharing row 4 with lower status pax.

The trouble is that Qantas reinforces this belief by actually treating them better. It's basically the whole point of having a tiered loyalty program.

I don't have a message service.

Thanks for following up. Perhaps human error on our part, however to be sure, please provide a preferred number for today and/or Monday via private message.

any chance you could find that thread and post a link to it? I've looked but couldn't find it, it's the sort thread that I love.

ah YES!!! of course. I'm a P1 who has never even asked or tried to wave my card around and say "Oh no I didn't get 3A out of LHR how dare you. fix it!" kind of thing. I'm not like that. if the seat is taken it's taken... but I'm not the sort of person you describe, and many of us know the sort you mean.

It would be interesting to know... are these "VIPs" (designated by QF or self-styled) moved in by human interaction, or the QF systems doing it.

I agree that none of this would be a problem if the idea of saying "no" to someone, no matter how "valueable" they are to your business or how high ranking etc was more common. Sadly I deal with this kind of thing in my own workplace on a common basis. If you're a director or CEO type the rules that apply to most staff just don't apply somehow and well... no, it's too early for a drink so I shall stop there :)

I've never been CL. Is anyone here a CL (or would admit to it?) I wonder if part of the "perks" is an expectation.. although honestly you'd think they'd get pushed into J rather than the first row of Y but that's just me. I've never even seen a CL bag tag to know what it looks like to identify one.

Not just me. A bit silly to allow a Bronze in row 4 middle seat when there are aisle seats further back.

The trouble is that Qantas reinforces this belief by actually treating them better. It's basically the whole point of having a tiered loyalty program.
Sad. "I want this seat even if it's allocated to someone else" should never be a request that is granted.

Our federal MP's are all comp CL's...nuff said on that topic then.

As to VIP's getting special treatment, QF has no idea who may be a VIP or not most of the time. All they generally know is a persons OW status. Someone might be a g'zillion mile major CEO or a $10,000 a day consultant or a Supreme Court Judge, who usually flies *A but has decided to give QF a go. Best QF treats everyone up in F with exactly the same level of respect and service.

My phone number on the account. Not sure why Virgin Mobile thinks I have a message service as it has never been used.

Thanks for following up my PM. I noticed additional bonus points credit to account on Friday. Someone from Social media called earlier today explaining a glitch in back end programs not handling the bonus correctly.

I was told they have made a note of my future flights booked via this promotion and will manually credit the missing bonus points. That's great for me but I feel sorry for those that do not have access to Red Roo to follow up for them.

Anyway thanks again for following up.
