Qantas Courtesy Upgrade Love

I've been flying with Qantas since 2009, frequent international travel since 2015 and Platinum every year between 2018 to present, barring one year post COVID. All flights are booked in Economy, usually Y.

I've received one "thank you for your loyalty" upgrade, which was a MEL to AKL flight on QF153, May 9 2024, (Thursday afternoon departure). Received a notification within the Qantas app notifying me of the upgrade whilst I was in the F lounge. It was a 737 single aisle, so the domestic business class offering but it was still a nice surprise.

26/10 AKL to SYD - no points upgrade or free one! This trip I’ve had no luck. SYD to SIN but doubt anything there.

Just a document check in the end and no WPgrade on my WPenultimate day as WP - I noticed the following comments at the bottom of my boarding pass so the flight may have filled up with flow forwarders:

2/11 QF1933, boarding pass beeped at the gate, took a while for the staff member to sort out. She eventually printed out a piece of paper where I saw "Happy Birthday from the VIP Service Team" at the bottom of it. 8E to 3E, leaving the Teen to put on Cosplay makeup of a facial scar next to complete stranger. We were on separate bookings.

Yesterday, EMD-BNE-MEL.

I was sitting on the plane prior to departure at Emerald and looked at my BP for the BNE MEL to check if there were any better seats than what I had. From memory row six with an empty next to me the night before.

Lo and behold, my seat was now 1F. A "cheap" ready deal at around $470 for the trip and there still seemed to be a few empty seats in economy once we were all boarded.

A nice brunch on the trip south was served.

No mention anywhere as to why this happened. It was very much appreciated.

if you had a digital boarding pass in apple wallet, some people have reported being able to go into the (i) button to see extra info, and in the "comments" section at the bottom it might give you a hint on where the love came from.

I got two short domestic free upgrade recently, with a "service" message on the digital BP, somethink like "enjoy the upgrade". Y cabin was far from full. I don't fly much anymore, and will drop SG next year, but it looks like Qantas is trying to look after their WP and above at the moment.
I am surprised they extend the free upgrade on international routes too.

Oh I see.

I had the digital pass on the Qantas app but never thought of adding it to the wallet.

The first flight from EMD took me to exactly 1200 sc so perhaps they gave it to me as a present for maintaining WP?
