Qantas Courtesy Upgrade Love

Madrooster posted in #56 above that courtesy upgrades for domestic travel would be processed 6 hours before departure.

3 days out there were 4 unsold J seats, I guess lots Biden for ungraded when prompted cause not at 6hrs nor 45mins out has anything come through.

I'd actually say if its domestic its due to last minute bookings and/or people moving flights around. Also QF often has standby staff as well which I imagine the system would prioritise over courtesy upgrades.

At least 2 were bid to upgrade as I overheard then talking about it in lounge then saw them board. And yes fly ahead was operating but that's typical during school holidays.

From the other thread here on AFF… only pilots travelling on duty would get priority, and they wouldn’t be on a standby list, they’d be confirmed.

No dice on a MEL-PER (737) a couple of weeks ago. Business was practically empty about 3 days out but full on the flight itself. Not a packed flight but probably 80%+. But first 3 rows of Y were very sparse so imagine quite a few upgraded. Whether it was by points, bid or freebie we'll never know of course.

On the return last Tues I was with the Mrs. Both WP (wife newly minted). Put in a cheeky last minute points upgrade while sitting in the lounge. There was a 'technical error' when I did so but when I refreshed my app we were now showing as business. Points still haven't come out of our account so at this point it seems like it was free. So maybe related to this round of upgrade love or perhaps just Bank Error in our Favour.

Any thank you message on the boarding pass?
