Mrs B and I pay corporate rate and yes, we probably don't get real value for what we pay. But then I think we have both been in the workforce for around 40 years now and if we can't shout ourselves some luxuries what have we been working for all these years?

Via AFF Gold membership Qantas Club membership is $230 joining fee and $400 for one year and $709.99 for two years.

I have not been notified of any new rates as yet.

Great - thanks for that info. So I guess I will ignore the figures that are in the application form supplied in the Gold Membership link?

I can now see why it's worth it to fly QFd and in J.
And now I get Island Dining, next time I pass QF SYDd I will have to fly an 18.30 sector.
This is why VA will never make it from a LCC/mid service airline.
QP price rise worth it???
Yes.

As per the spiel sent out the forms are out of date but it is all we have to use. The 'NEW' rates are also in one of the links so probably not a good idea to ignore them. When I rang them yesterday I was advised that there was an error in their new rates so here is a link to the correct ones. AFF Qantas Club membership rates.

Buzzard, compare QP SYDd business lounge vs VA PERd the lounge.
Just being able to look outside tops it all.
In the VA PERd the lounge can't even look out onto apron.
Why the opaque windows???

Silly comparison, why would you compare Sydney QF with Perth VA, comparing same cities would be much fairer, and surprisingly not much variance.

Are you saying that the PER QP doesn't offer much in terms of views?

Awesome. Now I can rejoin just in time to head overseas again. It has been a quiet few years of flying due to the downturn in my industry.

You'd want to be doing a few flights to justify it when one can buy lounges passes as cheap as $55+ off the likes of Gumtree.

Yeah if it was just about the lounge passes for sure. Also about the baggage allowance for a few trips planned.

Perhaps they're hemorrhaging members ?
I would think that personal membership is on the wane, given the average member is flying less and the cost per visit (in their eyes) is going up, so on renewal there are a lot of non renewals.

If that is the case, why increase the price? Once again, QF making inexplicable decisions.

Probably not going to renew this year.

The main reason I joined a few years ago was access to WIfI at the lounge. You can get that now throughout the terminals.

For the few times I actually enjoy a beer, my saved $50 per stay will buy me a beer and a meal better than a self-made sandwich which is all that is offered nowadays.

To try and retain the same revenue? Remember all CL, Plat & Gold have auto membership (easily extracted through the flying revenue) so this is really for Bronze & Silver and those under corporate membership.

Perhaps this is their time to sort the chaff from the wheat??

An overnight trip was odd to the guy, but Aust C&BP didn't bat an eyelid this time.
Got to check out Manakau on 380 bus.
Threadjack ends.
