Hi all,
I have just joined this site and have a question about the qantas club. Does anyone know how long it takes to process the membership? I submitted my application through the site here to obtain the discount and admin notified me it was submitted about 3 weeks ago. I rang Qantas Club and they said they still have not processed my membership. I am travelling internationally in 12 days time and really want the membership. Any ideas on how to make the process quicker?

Applications are generally processed within 10-14 days, and priority applications (with the AUD30 fee) are generally turned (and dispatched for courier delivery) in 72hrs.

For standard applications, delivery of membership pack is usually 5-10 days after processing.

You have two options at this point:

  1. Call QP service centre, and ask for priority processing, OR
  2. Stick it out. If the application is processed before departure AND your online status updated AND your membership pack is not received before you go: visit an Australian Domestic/International QP with your boarding pass and ask them to issue a temporary card (valid generally for 14-30 days).

Admin at AFF turned my application around in less than 24 hours. I rang QP about 2 days later to see how they were going, my QFF login had already changed from Bronze QFF to Qantas Club bronze QFF. The CSR said my QP membership was already processed and I could use the club immediately in domestic terminals. She did say it would take 4 weeks or so to send me the card but as I didn't have any international flights in that time I didn't pursue it.

Getting a temporary card sounds like a good idea in your situation with an o/s flight coming right up.

The reason why your membership could be processed so fast is because the AFF scheme here is a corporate managed scheme - which means an appointed administrator for the company or the group has access to systems at QF to process and manage memberships.

In the OP's case, I suspect that they have joined either a standard member or under a self-managed corporate scheme, hence the calls to QF to discover what the delay is.

Maybe. I took this:

"I submitted my application through the site here to obtain the discount and admin notified me it was submitted"

To mean that the OP took advantage, as I did, of the AFF corporate scheme. I could be wrong though.

I glanced over that *facepalm*

You could call and offer to be charged the $30 fee. No idea why it is taking so long.

Our scheme is a self-managed corporate scheme. Our GOLD members send us the Application form (for initial Application or Renewal). We then add our Scheme number, and forward to Qantas on our member's behalf. We usually forward the form the day we receive it, and Qantas usually take about 2 days to process it.

The OP, did use our scheme. I'm not sure what caused the delay. (Perhaps Qantas "lost" the fax, which was definalely sent). Anyway, I have called Qantas - its all sorted and the OP now a QF Club member.

What's recent experience been like for delivery of the card? I've been a QP member for over a month now and am yet to receive my card. My silver card has turned up, which I qualified for a few days after signing up for QP. Should I be alarmed, or just be a bit more patient?

I have a NZ address if that adds any complication to the process.

But NZ's not as big as Australia so it shouldn't take as long to find me! :p

My new QP card took over 8 weeks to arrive :?:

Just under 4 weeks for mine from application to receiving the 'kit' in the mail.

Can't see why it would take longer to get to NZ then it did for mine to to get to WA.

I joined in July this year via the Qantas website registration process, flew from PNG to Aus the next day and it had already been processed. I was able to use all lounges by simply showing my boarding pass, the kit arrived about 3 weeks later but as I live in PNG I didn't pick it up again until I was in OZ next (no one will send anything to Port Moresby - I wonder why!! sorry I am being a smarty pants). I have had no trouble using either international or domestic lounges in between.

Sent my application for renewal and email to Admin Friday Admin acknowledged it Monday Qantas email Wednesday saying that it has been accepted Will let you know when new card arrives

See post #2 above.

This is how it works with Qantas these days.
admin and I normally ring the Qantas Club applications these days as it is done on the spot and a receipt issued.

It then all occurs as thewinchester posted.

Can anybody pls tell me how much it costs to join Qantas Club for husband and self? That is without having to tell you the birth date of my mother-in-law's uncle?

Normal public rates are below, AFF has a member scheme that is discounted (see the last post: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....unges/need-find-qantas-club-corp-9333-16.html

Individual Membership

1 year $840.00
2 year $1,220.00

The above prices include a joining fee and are based on the prospective member's Australian tax residency declaration. If you are a Frequent Flyer, you can also choose to pay for your own Qantas Club membership in Frequent Flyer points.

There's a partner rate as well, so only one of you has to pay full price.
It's roughly $500 for the first year.
