Qantas Club invitations on e-bay

If you get an extra long wait at an airport, such prior to flying out on QF, and it's a QP which has got decent food, then $55 for 2 may be worth it. But it won't be good value by any stretch of the imagination. $55 would buy you and a friend a few drinks at the airport bar, and you wouldn't have to be travelling within the next 2 weeks.

agreed, but there's the KUDOS factor to take into account, there are many who would love to be part of the upstairs mob but can't afford it or dont travel enough to warrant it - i think in that case, $55 is good value for them

heres a good one I came across yesterday while trolling ebay for QF collectibles - it makes me shudder to think this is probably a scam judging by the wording and grammar... but I could be wrong, he has good positive feedback

Mr!

Qantas business class ticket to asia return

I think I’d request it to be an Any Seat booking, otherwise I’m not interested :p

Not sure he gets around the family terms and conditions. But I guess he needs the mullah.

Well he won't be needing his Plat card or points if Qantas works out who he is (A simple request to Ebay will see his personal details released to Qantas) - as Qantas may choose to cancel his account.

Besides, there is no proof that the seller is legitimate. If he has somehow got the credentials of another passenger's FF account and is planning to use that - it would put the recipient of the ticket into a very bad position at the airport.

Mr!

If it is legit,

I've personally never had to use one, but is there any checking done of the card when used?

You may be $55 out of pocket, with no lounge access.

Also yes I remember when I used to walk past those glass doors wondering what's inside, now I don't think I could cope without it.

The cards are generic cards - no serial numbers or other identifying features to distinguish one from another (except expiry date). There are some security features on most cards (eg a hologram). You can generally have an idea if a card is legit or suspect when looking at the auction.

The card isn't really checked on use. It's presented to the staffer, they might look at it to check it's genuine, but they accept so many they're pretty used to them.

Quite right it is the boarding pass that they are simaraly interested in ? maybe to keep track on numbers

I've often wondered if a boarding pass mistakenly left in the back of a seat is used elsewhere for lounge access - especially if it has WP on it!

Is it just me or do you all when you have 2 or more BP's for the day always show the LD's the wrong one? I have never been caught out... LOL

It would be nice to see some the local listings for Qantas Club Passes on eBay go to completion.

Two recent auctions went to completion.

Auction 1: $25. 1 pass, Mar'11.
Auction 2: $80. 1 pass, Mar'11.

Auction 2 was pretty funny:

BID QUICK THIS WONT LAST!!!

AND AS A BONUS FOR WINNING THIS MAGNIFICENT ITEM I'LL INCLUDE A :

Actually, what I want if anyone wants to give me one, is an original QP guest pass - the ones we used to get 5 or so years ago, anyone got one laying about they would like to donate toward my QF memorabilia collection? ...
What colour?

20th Century Blue or 21st Century White ... with or without expiry date?
I'll bring a few of each along on Sunday for you ...

Anyone else see any on eBay?

I'm going on my honeymoon in July and would LOVE to relax with my fiance in the lounge before we fly off. I've been in a few times, but he never has! :)

Cheers,
Panda

I have a QP Invitation valid to June 2011 if any AFF member wants it please PM me.

Well, congratulations to you both. Which part of this lovely world are you heading to for your honeymoon?

If you have no luck securing one through legal means, check out the Meetings & Social Events threads to see if anyone happens to be travelling at the same time as you both, and would be kind enough to guest you in.

Hey, I'm trying to PM You, but it turns out I haven't made enough posts to send pms... :( I need ten more to be exact!!! If it's still up for grabs, send me a pm with your email and I'll reply ASAP!! Thanks!

Thank you! We're headed off to Italy, France, Spain and Belgium. We're going to backpack and relax along the way. Should be good! Annoying that we managed to chose the high season, but such is life.

I'll keep an eye out in the other sections. Thanks for your help!

It seems flogging passes on ebay may have just got a little harder.

This is apparently the latest incarnations of the passes:

P1020282.jpg

P1020281.jpg

In the first photo there is a piece of paper covering eight digits. Perhaps this helps to trace them.

That aside, I'm confused. The first dot point on the reverse side says the pass is only valid for six months from the date of issue. However, my passes don't have a date of issue, nor do they have any date printed on the front in the 'valid to: ' field. So should I write a date on there myself and risk having it cross-referenced at the lounge or do I leave it blank and risk having it tossed out at the lounge because it doesn't have a date?

Dear Qantas.

Who is "Australian Airlines"? Or did you have a mind warp back to the past? And where are your NZ domestic lounges????
