..... and that the $1 coin has not gained any real acceptance.

No, they are widely shunned - and Americans don't seem to do $50 notes much, either.

And when you tell them about the Australian practice of rounding-up/down to the nearest 5c, it almost causes apoplexy!

How would they handle Kiwi land where they don't even use 5 cent coins any more :?:

Interestingly I lived on a US airbase in the UK 1987-1989 where they used all US currency - but because of the cost of shippin 1c coins over there - they rounded up/down. I was very surprised when I first went to the US that they used 1c coins - I now have a bout 30 of them in my US currency bag....

It would kill the whole concept of "nickel and diming" .

And the Complimentary Invitations have recently changed their terms and conditions. The newer ones clearly state that the invitations cannot be sold in any way.
I wonder how closely QF is monitoring this condition. If old, endless supply, guest passes from the UK are still being sold on eBay and used in QF lounges there must not be too much monitoring happening.

I have 2 passes expiring March 2008 that I will put up for sale soon.

I recently passed through LAX and personally would not pay $50 for lounge access. The best you can get for your money is :-
  • A shower
  • 2 free drinks
  • A few snacks
  • Somewhere comfortable to sit
  • Free internet terminal (though you may have to wait and they keep you standing to encourage turnover).
I know it's easy for me to say these things (as a QC member), but the L.A. Admirals/QC was a bit disappointing. If someone offered me $50 for my "seat" I would have taken them up in a flash and had a decent meal in the terminal.

Cheers,

Andrew

LOL I know that NOW ;) ...I had been in other QF (or it could of been BA not sure) lounges and they were a hell a lot better then LAX

I think the old ones may not necessarily say that they can't be sold (not sure what the T&Cs are on them) so it might be ok to sell them - stealing them in the first place may not be as acceptable to QF ;)
