Qantas Club Gold Coast

If it ends up looking anything like the fairly new lounge in Cairns, then I'll be happy. Just ended up there for a few hours the other day and while selection of food and drinks was the usual, I was very impressed with both the airy layout and the friendly staff. Anything will be better than those annoying unskilled Virgin trainees just out of high school in my eyes.
Even experienced people need to be trained at some point :!:

Obviously the unskilled Qantas trainees that were in the Cairns lounge when the new lounge was opened have matured as will the Virgin staff (with time).

Campak have only started advertising for subbies for the fitout today.

I figured Qantas might use it for inaugural flight speeches and so forth for invited press. You can't really see if they've done anything around the corner.

Just wondering whether anyone has an idea whether the Gold Coast lounge will be open by the end of this month as announced? I'll be flying out on the very last day of this month from there and would love to see what it's like. :)

Not sure, the site still just says "Late 2012". Even if its not open maybe you can take a pic of the progress if you can see any that is and post it here for us?

Each time I've checked-in the last two Tuesdays, the check-in agents have been saying 30 November.... but apparently it's still a construction zone behind the hoarding... I guess they've still got a few days to get it sorted out.

My next flight through there is 30 November, so I will certainly check it out if that is the case.

If not, my next flights after that are Dec 2nd and Dec 26th :)

Perfect, I'll be heading out on the 30th of November. I'll definitely take some photos - whether it's under construction or not :)

Given there was already a lounge of sorts there, I don;t envisage great deal of structural work being necessary. It could be a basic refurbishment and might be opened next week.

Last time I flew and got $25 voucher they advised that it would finish on November 30. Flying Sunday the 2nd will advise.

And I see it opens on Tuesday offically when I fly back in must get an invite to the opening as I got an invite to the opening of the DJ lounge at OOL and that casued a stir lol

So did anyone get an invite to the lounge opening?

I've asked but don't expect one.

I'd just like to see it with my own eyes, as I'll hardly, if ever, fly through it.
Hi Sam if it is open Sunday and you are free happy to take you in I am on the 1305 to SYD
