Qantas Club Gold Coast

There was one, it was closed when the airport expanded, refitted, rebranded and opened as the Jetstar Lounge.

Never say never, but I can't see QF ever reopening a QF Club at OOL, though I did hear a rumour recently that they might begin flying to OOL from SYD again, though haven't heard anything more.

How many Qantas flights in and out of Gold Coast?

That should answer your question

TO my knowledge there is no Qantas flights out of OOL.

They do have a J* lounge but no idea what the rules of entry are but i do remember reading on the forum somewhere that it does not give QP members access to the J* lounge. Only the higher status's such as WP and maybe SG get access regardless of flight purchased.

I live in Western Australia now remember flying Qantas to Sydney years ago was unaware they didn't have flights still.

They were operating twice daily flights to/from Sydney until 2-3 years ago when the cut them out and replaced them with additional Jetstar services.

Interestingly I've got a conspiracy theory over why they stopped the flights as was told by a reliable source in the industry that only about 12 months earlier the flights had finally become profitable for the first time in 10 years and then they up and announced the end of them.

I personally think they stopped flying to OOL so they had a viable and acceptable excuse to close the Qantas Club without anyone kicking up a stink.

Just my little conspiracy theory :mrgreen:

Haha the real reason is much more boring and logical TG :)

I got it about 2 months ago from a QF Corp GM.

When Qantas start flying out of OOL again, we will probably see the Qantas Club come back to life.

The Jetstar lounge is almost always empty[SUP]1[/SUP], I get the impression it's just holding space in order to prevent Virgin (or somebody else) from gaining that precious space.

[SUP]1[/SUP]In my limited experience of using the lounge. 2-3 people max at anytime.

Only used it once about 5 years ago on a family vacation. Even though it was a pretty full flight to Sydney there was only one other table in the lounge being used whilst we were there.

Mainly because the Jetstar Market is too cheap to consider paying for lounge access, though I always pay when I fly JQ out of OOL and the fact it's quiet is great. Not terribly expensive either, especially if purchased when booking the tickets.

I agree. For $10, I have no problem paying for it. The standard of the food is alright (Surprisingly better than anything DJ have) and I'm sure I eat more than $10 worth of food while in there.

Certainly cheaper than buying breakfast in the terminal. ($6 for a choc milk)

I'm surprised there isn't a lot of people that take up the offer.

Agree it's good value prepaid once a few years ago and didn't end up using it, paid last year on entry and thus year got in as WP. I thought food offering was better than a QF J lounge and very empty!

I'm guessing it's not that busy because it's not obvious that it's there, people just walk straight past after security

Maybe we can have updates here as the revamp takes shape ;)

Now that the bar has been raised a notch or two by VA (pardon the pun) The lounge designers.. (maintaining confidence) will have the contest the flair & service level that VA have implemented & duly, warmly received by the increasing levels of premium clientele at OOL.

wonder if new OOL QC will be better than BNE....can't be much worse!

I can't imagine there's any room to make it bigger than it is and the only way it's going to be better is with more space.

Issue I see is the bar will open later than JQ (all day) or J lounge and the food will be on par with the QP as it is a QP. So I'll still be better off with BNE.

The QP Flounge in BNE needs a lift. As does AKL. Both are a bit small. mrs GPH was granted access to AKL lounge last week when she couldn't find me. Said it was standing room only.
Now it must be the DYKWIA factor going on here. Food not that much better and while there is champagne on offer it seems to me a bit silly to stand rather than sit

I can see some QC holders being annoyed if there is a J* lounge and they can not get access but it is ok in the reverese that you fly J* and can use a QP.
