I've asked but don't expect one.

I'd just like to see it with my own eyes, as I'll hardly, if ever, fly through it.

That's a shame. Thought a invite would have been appropriate.
I suspect it won't be as tantalising in offerings & view as is the VA lounge, & they were kind to us at the opening & beyond.
Though I know it as the JQ lounge, just with different branding I guess.
I will be using it as often as the inclement weather sets in on departure.

Hi Sam if it is open Sunday and you are free happy to take you in I am on the 1305 to SYD

Sounds good, I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for updates now, will be good to catch up :)

Offerings shouldn't be bad, views not to much but I don't need to see planes landing to know when I'm boarding, just a simple announcement.

The views would be inclusive of the interior of the lounge.. A tad of people watching goes on in The VA OOL lounge.
.. But you do like planes Sam & additionally, adventurously obscure 'remote" airports :)..:p..;)

I don't usually people watch from the DJ lounge with the curtains in place, but do look out onto the tarmac.

Maybe QF should put a camera on the roof :p

The remote airports I go to hardly have planes at them other than when I get off or back on ;)

The opening hours are not great for J* passengers eg in Jan, I have a flight leaving OOL at 1630, meaning I only have an hour in the lounge:(

As unfortunate as it is, it really reflects that Qantas is currently only at OOL "part-time". Check-in counters only open 2 hours before each flight etc. as well, and seeing they have to outsource many aspects of the operation there (e.g. ground handling), I'm not surprised by the limited hours. I wouldn't be surprised if the staff start cleaning up from 5pm onwards each day, and definitely not a minute after boarding has been called for the 17:40 flight.

As I suspected and what we have seen at CNS, DRW and even MEL international, JQ means you could be lounge lucky!

Well, just as well I started to plan transitioning my evening flights out of the Gold Coast from Jetstar to Virgin. I was hoping that the hours would be like they use to be, when it was last a Qantas Club, and that is - they remain open for the last JQ flight departure, but alas. Anyway, better views from the Virgin lounge. Another own goal from Qantas Group management.

To be fair they only have 3 flights a day at the moment, but I think this will change. The loads seem good on the 4 sectors I've been on this month between OOL and SYD. So, come late next year I think it may be up to 5 daily SYD and maybe 2 to MEL.

Those opening hours are stupid, I don't understand how it would be worth closing the lounge for 2 1/2 hours, surely it wouldn't save them much $, for eg. there is a 2pm OOL-MEL JQ service, so if I was flying on that as a QFF Gold member and arrived at the lounge at 12:30, I can only spend 30 mins in the lounge, then to be turfed out at 1pm!

Considering QF don't fly directly to MEL yet, there may be some times when I am pressed for time that I will fly directly back to MEL with JQ..and I will have to sit in the terminal so they can save a few hundred $ in staff wages, hmmm.

This is not just an OOL problem, MEL Int QF J Lounge is the same, closes at 5:30pm. Yet there are some JQ flights, Air Pacific flights.etc that fly after that time, yet QF elites are shunned. This really needs to change and the lounges need to stay open for all applicable flights not just QF metal, as for many routes there has never been QF metal or it has been removed.

"You're the reason we open the lounge....when we want..."

To those moaning about not having lounge open for JQ flights, tuff, it a QANTAS CLUB not jet star lounge

I don't necessarily disagree with your sentiment, though it is one of those annoying situations where QF choose whether JQ is or isn't part of the Qantas Group based on what suits them... (in contrast to, for example, throwing JQ flights into the flight search on the Qantas web site etc. which, from my perspective, is also very annoying, but this time, it happens to benefit them).
