Qantas Classic Reward & Upgrade Devaluation on 5 August 2025

Suddenly you are so certain of the precise number of people who fit a certain category ("a couple of hundred people in Australia"), yet you have no data, no proof and no idea that your belief is not the same thing as the truth.
How many people do you personally know that fall into the category I mentioned above?

My take at the moment is that the Qantas frequent flyer scheme, by world standards, is uncompetitive and Qantas J is also uncompetitive by world standards. If they can get away with it, good for them. Crown in Melbourne had no problem offering blackjack where 22 is a draw - if it were offered in Vegas, no-one would play. But there are enough mugs in Melbourne that you can't even find a seat even on a table as coughpy as that.

Can someone confirm, if I made a booking prior to Aug 5th. If I put in an upgrade request after aug 5th, what is the upgrade rate. Is it the new rate or old rate?

Bonus question, if I have a booking I made prior to Aug 5th but now change the date on it, I will have to put a new upgrade request. Will this have the old rate or new rate?

The upgrades are at the old rate if they were requested prior to Aug 5th. In both your examples, they'll be charged at the new (higher) rate.

I'm pretty sure changes will be at the old rate if the original booking was made prior to Aug 5th.
