Qantas check-in fury as economy passengers turned away

Only a window seat in row 5 was available.

I have been happy with the seats allocated so far so maybe this is just an exception.

I may send another feedback letter to QF and not likely to receive a response again.

Why send more feedback when you've only waited 5 days for a response? Qantas will need to check the lateness of your flights and some other data before responding to you.

If you don't get a reply in 4 weeks after logging the feedback, that's when I would be following it up. (But yep, I have 2 feedback incidents that havn't been acknowledged or responded to by Qantas, so it happens)

Not very happy.

At the moment QF551 is due to board at 19:25 with a scheduled departure of 18:45 and just started boarding now, QF553 is due to board at 19:35 with a scheduled departure of 19:15 and QF555 is due to board at 19:50 with a scheduled departure. Just as well I did not ask to be moved to an earlier flight.

By the way these are not the only flights that are delayed.

It's Friday evening; I think you'll find such delays are more the norm for that time of the week than one would think.

Planes are fuller, more chance of PAX not fronting; little delays add to big ones as the evening rolls on.

FWIW, for two months commuted MEL/SYD/MEL weekly with Friday PM flights SYD to MEL and Sunday PM flights to SYD ...

... that was 1994/1995 and I guess little has changed.

Does that explain my 60 minute delay on Thursday afternoon? Which afternoon is best for minimal flight delays?

So I picked a bad day to travel? It is a shame as that is the end of the working week for most people.

I know everyone is under pressure to perform but put simply QF is a service company and at the moment they are not providing much service yet their profit continues to increase.

One option is QF should look at improving their image, get the aircraft running on time again and worry about increasing profit later. The other option is to continue to chase the profit with no regard for the customer and later on find out their services are no longer required....

OLCI can still throw up some interesting ones.

Mother-in-Law flew down from BNE this morning. Discount Ticket (~$100), OLCI, given 6E. Business. Checked bags in etc, sat in seat, offered breakfast as Mrs someone-else, but accepted anyway.

As a NB, MIL was surprised in the least! Unfortunately she didn't think to use the new J lounge:shock:

Hmm, wonder where Mrs someone-else was

Having read some of the reports from some of you, it seems that WP will basically get you your lovely exit row or forward economy as it always has, and that's good.

But I'm curious how mid range peeps like me with Silver will fare?

As a Silver I've always had a good 20 or 30 seats to choose from whenever I've used OLCI, including front row of economy and rarely some exit rows in the middle of a 73H. But my concern is these options will disappear for me?

:/

Harpoon, I think that will completely depend on the number of WP etc one the flight, i would say you will still get a decent/good choice a reasonable amount of the time.

Had a colleague do OLCI today for a quick CBR-SYD return, he is PS and it was a corporate fare.

Got row 9 on the trip up and and exit row on the way back. Didn't check what was available because the Internet/Qantas site was too slow.
