Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

New York no longer in the list of eligible flights? The press release indicated NY would be one of the locations for Chauffeur Drive, but now I can't see it being available for my flights and it's not on the Chauffeur Drive page.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

They removed NY it appears, tried and failed to discuss this with Platinum line and failed.

Thanks I thought I was going crazy. That seems poor.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Seems like QF63/64 Sydney to and from Johannesburg has also disappeared from the list. It was included as being eligible when the merger was announced but is no longer listed as eligible.

Any explanations for this change Red Roo? I too saw that JNB was on the original list of eligible flights and have been patiently waiting for the option to come up on our booking only to find out that JNB is now not on the list. Very disappointing!

I am also very interested in the answer to this as I am flying to JNB next month!

+1 very disappointed if JNB is excluded.

My itinerary is DRW-SYD-MEL-LAX and I'm eligible for a chauffeur before the MEL-LAX leg. As we have 10 hours in MEL and were planning to stay overnight at the Airport Holiday Inn, I'm wondering how they'd feel about a Hotel-MEL run? It is an 8 minute walk after all!

JNB is an eligible route and will be available to book, along with other international flights greater than 12hrs, progressively into 2014. Please see this link for more information about our Chauffeur Drive service. :)

That is all well and good Red Roo but the original date for JNB was 1st July 2013 and this 'enhancement' has been kept quiet whilst customers have waited patiently. Very poor form IMO!

Absolutely agree with you - it shouldn't have been announced as available if they weren't ready to roll it out.

I am flying in J early 2014 so hope it will be up and running by then. My parents are due to fly in August this yer and were looking forward to using this service. Very poor that Qantas hasn't even contacted customers who booked and paid with the understanding they would have this additional service. Surely Qantas could provide the pickup in Sydney at a minimum even if it isn't available at the overseas destination.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Chauffeur Drive has appeared on my booking to Asia and I have successfully booked it. I presume this is because now that I have to transit from ADL via SYD :)evil:) that makes my total journey length over 12 hours and therefore my booking is eligible :))). A small consolation for QFi abandoning ADL.

Is it available in asia as well? or just to and from adelaide airport?

Only to and from ADL has come up on the Asia booking, unlike my next flight to LAX where it is coming up for ADL and LAX.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

I would guess that this is fine. You don't have a driver allocated to you until you actually present yourself at the chauffeur desk at LHR, so it's not like a guy is going to be standing there waiting for you while you're in the lounge.

Anyone know where the chauffeur desk is at LHR ?

Also keen to know the answer to this.

And has anyone worked out the best way to get them to do the pickup at a sensible time for a connecting flight rather than the minimum 2.5hrs prior to departure on the booking engine?

Yes you can change the time when the Chauffeur company rings you to confirm a couple of days before

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Anybody know what range of vehicles are in use at LHR and MEL?

SWMBO and I are flying F LHR-MEL QF10 as a relocation so we'll have an insane amount of luggage (still actually trying to work out my allowance as a WP with a ticket bought pre the baggage changes in March for anyone who can opine). I understand we could potentially order one car each, but we will be transporting golf clubs, snowboard and a road bike along with umpteen suitcases. Any idea if we can get a van as the second car (or even two vans)? And I guess the same would apply on arrival too, so any thoughts on how to line up two vans (or a combination of van+car) in MEL?

Thank goodness for that, otherwise I would be getting to the airport before it even opens for my 6am flight. It only takes 15 minutes for me to get to the airport, especially at 3.30am!
