Qantas changes flight time so transit time in MEL is 1 hr

One hour is too short to switch terminals in MEL, particularly for any international flight departing before 12 noon IME. Security is horrendously long on many days even with an express passes.

I agree, the M in MCT is for minimum. Not recommended.

Delays happen and it's useful to have a little time up your sleeve.
We know MCT is not good enough. I believe customer care is trained poorly in these situations.

Is it worth sending a pm to the QF Social Media team on Facebook giving them both pnrs and explaining the situation. Ideally it would be good to know ahead of time that you can take the earlier flight?

So after HUACA I rang QF during business hours (hopefully more senior staff present )and managed without difficulty to change to an earlier flight.

Interestingly both times I rang I was told that earlier flights than QF 461 were all fully booked. I thought it strange as I can see through EF and QF that seats were widely available on Dec 15.

Apparently if your PNR is entered then earlier flights appear as unavailable but if they searched for your PNR/name then earlier flights are available. A little glitch uncovered that when fixed will hopefully make travel easier for future passengers. Just my little contribution to QF pax.!

Anyway all good and thumbs up to QF again!!
Transit time is now 1 hr 50min

Good to hear QS. You might even get a crack at the new F Lounge summer menu. ;)

I can report that the connecting time from MEL-d to MEL-I was 52 minutes.

This was from Row 2 of the 737 to QF Flounge escalator and included TRS palava.
