Qantas Cash Card App Not working with iOS10
I have called Qantas Cash wondering what was going on as I kept getting "An error has occurred with the web services please try again later", and was wondering what was going on.
Apparently it's an issue with the app not being compatible with iOS 10. And they are working on a fix, in the mean time you can still access via the web.

However you would think that,
A: Qantas would have tested this months earlier when iOS10 was in beta like other software makers.
B: Communicated the public of the issue on the website or via email.

Not impressed Qantas!

Here is the latest offer email from QF Cash:

Dear Gmoh,

Get your next overseas trip off to a great start with bonus points from Qantas Cash.

It's easy. Load a minimum of AU$1,000 in foreign currency and we'll reward you with 2 points for every dollar loaded, up to a maximum of 40,000 points*.

That’s enough Qantas Points for a one-way Economy Classic Flight Reward to coughet (plus taxes, fees and carrier charges**).

Plus, you'll also earn 1 point for every AU$1 spent on eligible purchases in foreign currency[SUP]^[/SUP].

Hurry, offer ends 25 September 2016.

I am surprised that you are surprised. Qantas Cash has always been a low-cost clunky product. I don't think they test anything and rely on users to do that and find the bugs. I am sure we would have received an email if they could have sold this as an 'enhancement' but that would have been rich even for Qantas.

So i just noticed something interesting on my QF Activity Statement

08 OCT 16QANTAS CASH DOMESTIC TRANSACTION 07OCT16--3-
The only thing i can think of what it was is the $5 AUD credit that Global Blue gave me for VAT refund.
I wanted to park any funds on my QCC since i would have lost more with overseas transaction conversion fees on my regular cards and i didnt know if it was going to be in AUD or Euro. The original purchases werent all paid using QCC so i dont believe i should have points reversed for it

Just wondering if anyone has seen something like this before with tax refunds and if its something i should contact QF about to get my 3 points back.

QF's marketing blurbs would have a lot more impact without all the * ** ^ stuff.

Has anyone tried to load in AUD and spend in foreign currency? I assume this is what happens if you have excess in AUD but not in the required currency. Will this exchange rate be subjected to MasterCard rates (similar to 28 Degrees without a fee)? Or do they use Qantas Cash Conversion rates of the day?

Cheers,
Kerry

we think it's the rate on the day - no fees

Rate of the day. There is a thing on thr qcc site about order of funds if you funds available in the local currency.

I did it recently when i ran out of USD but still had spare AUD.

Could you put 20k on the card to get the 40k points then simply withdraw the currency, effectively just using it for the bonus points?

You only get the points for buying foreign currency, so if you want to withdraw it in Australia you'll pay a second exchange fee to convert it back to AUD for withdrawal.

I got the double points offer ... The language was (I suspect deliberately) confusing. Read as 2 ppd but I knew this probably didn't include AUD spend, TnC confirmed. So my view that this is a terrible product has not changed.

Ps. I looked at the x rates for my upcoming trip- Citi offering a rate 4 cents better, QCash is such a poor option.

i looked into this. you have to load a currency, cant be loaded as AUD. And the rate has a pretty sizable spread. for example, you could load $20k of USD at 0.7090, which gives you a balance of USD14,180. Unfortunately, Qantas dont publish the buy rate. so i asked them, this is the response.

"Your unused Qantas Cash balance will be repurchased by Qantas Cash and converted into Australian Dollars using the buyback rate of the day with this process is the same for any foreign currency or travellers cheque buyback transaction.
As I am sure you can appreciate, this rate will always differ from the rate of supply along with daily due to fluctuations in the foreign exchange market. This is determined by supply and demand along with a host of other economic factors. Any institution which trades in foreign exchange will primarily utilise rates based on the buy and sell rates. The sell rate will provide the rate of supply with the buy rate determining the value returned to the consumer."

Just say they sold the AUD back to you at the market rate (highly unlikely but this is just an example). The current rate at 9:42AM is 0.7413. Your USD14,180 is worth AUD19,128. So the 40,000 points just cost you $872. (4.35cents/point - not very good value).

However, the rate they sell you AUD most likely has an additional spread. just as an example, say it is 3% so the buyback rate would be 0.7635. Your USD would be worth $18,572. even worse value.

You could of course load up USD and hope that the value of the aussie falls a few cents and then convert back.

Is anyone having issues logging onto their Qantascash profile currently?

Yes, tried 3 times and got the same error message every time

Oops! Something’s not quite right. Please check your details and try again. Remember, you must enter your Qantas Cash email address - this may differ from your Frequent Flyer email address.

My screen auto-populates my FF and email address, so I know it's not me....

Just tried the QF Cash App. Password wrong (maybe its been that long that I can't remember), so re-setting. Email received with temporary password, lets see if that works...nope!

Password change failed. Please check your details and try again

App now frozen and I can't type anything...

Not happy QF :evil::evil: (lucky I don't have a big balance)

Will go back to laptop, but can't right now...will try again in 2 hours

I was able to activate my QF cash card, but try as I might, I can't change the PIN. The ATM says "PIN changed" but when I input the new PIN. I'm told "invalid PIN, you have two attempts remaining". I input the old PIN and I can access my cash. NAB customer service person at the ATM's branch I'm using walked me through the procedure and got same result. The ironic thing is that I've now input the PIN I want to change so many times that I can remember it - which was the point of changing it to a number I'd remember in the first place :D !

I think it was the system that was down as I did manage to get back in. Looks like it's pushed my deposit back a day...
