Qantas Business Class Upgrade - MEL -> SIN

So far the same seat I originally chose. Selecting window or isle you don’t get any other options
Assuming you're travelling on 17th, right now 1A, 1K 2E, 3E seem like the only seats open.

Ok, I’m currently assigned to 7E if I wanted 3E how do I get it?
Qantas block seats for passengers they perceive to be of higher value than other passengers. If you do not have Platinum One or Chairman's lounge status you are unlikely to be able to select that seat online.

Ok thanks, so if I try again later there may be a seat selection map?

You can try at the airport, or just keep trying online.

QF37 on 17th is showing the following loading (which indicates they are only prepared to sell one more business class seat - and at the most expensive level):

J1 C0 D0 I0 U0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

Your next opportunity after T-80 is when online check in opens, which is exactly 24 hours before. I would then go for 1k followed by 1a.

There is really nothing that special about 3E.

Yes of course you can wear tracksuit pants. But as pointed out you’ll get given PJs/loumgewear on board anyway.

Thanks. For my understanding why 1K & 1E given the limitations and distance to the galley

The forward galley is a ‘dry’ galley… not used during flight for any service. The WC is forward of 1A, so that aisle gets a bit of foot traffic. But 1K does not.

IK might be on the aisle, but the configuration and placing of the seats means it’s pretty private anyway. Plus you get an extra wide footwell at the bulkhead.

I generally always take a true window in these types of seating configurations, but can honestly say 1K is a great seat.

There’s only limited privacy in any seat… as soon as someone stands up they can see you. At least with 1K no one is going to be standing up looking at you as they’re focused on getting to the WC at the back of the cabin.

I do not use seat guru - it is unreliable and has not been updated since well before COVID.

Row 2 is better on the A330 IMHO.
2A/K have the seat next to window and the table/ console next to the aisle.
Far more private than row 1 where the seat is right next to the aisle.
The reverse is true on the B787 where row 1 is more private.

What’s the earliest time you can check in? 3 hours prior to boarding or prior to departure?

But the trade off for row 2 is the narrow footwell, which is a thing if you are tall!

In the OP’s case, row 2 is taken, leaving row 1A/K and 3E. Out of those I’d be in 1K.
