Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF1925 dep BNE 10:05 (11:05 at HBA) arr HBA 13:50

Meal was described as breakfast. First option was the egg in a muffin so graphically illustrated up thread - no thank you. Other option was - I thought it was described as banana bread .. something like that, with blueberries, cream and I think lemon curd. It was very nice and Qantas are obviously going through their stock of Riesling as I scored it again.

The danish was saved by the fact that it was rhubarb.

Menus at seats for food and drinks.

PDBs offer including bubbles, still or sparkling water.

There was an additional main option of Tandori Lamb curry.

Went for the Lemongrass chook, which was ok. The salad was not good - all a bit too chunky veg for my liking.

Icecream was actually soft and edible on serving!

I love that Qantas now re-introduced the printed menu on the trans Tasmans again but the food is literally the Domestic slop.

So their Marketing department has to really go the extra mile- not any “roasted” vegetables but definitely grown in Spain and the cherry tomatoes are “slow roasted” rather than heated up in a convection oven at DNATA… 😅🤣😂

TT has been domestic catering plus real bubbles for as long as I can remember.

It was particularly noticeable flying SYD-AKL-EZE back in 2001. Same B747 all the way but the crew on the TT leg even had different uniforms back then. Once we were on our way from AKL, the service etc was comparable to a SYD-LAX flight.

I'll take the TT salad over a long-haul leaf bowl any day of the week... The smoked salmon in the salad a few weeks back was 👌

I like to believe you (and have no evidence to the contrary) but in the years just leading up to Covid, I did semi-weekly return flights between Auckland and Sydney. And all my half way frequently flying colleagues and friends were jealous because I was getting the “Full international J experience” on the cheap.

It was different- the proper International menus, printed properly with the pretty Australian landscapes and not just one sheet. It was never the same lame Domestic slob as on my (occasional) connecting Domestic flights. And it was DEFINITELY a proper choice of starters rather than some boring smoked salmon salad.

I would swear it was “proper” International, but maybe I just fell for their Marketing.

The salmon salad was nice on the way over but I’d take the green leaf salad any day over the veg “salad” - which was gross.

Sorry to come back to this but I’ve just found the evidence and unfortunately, you are dead wrong: This is one of the many menus from pre-Covid and it was totally undoubtedly proper International J class food on the Tasman: Neil Perry’s (yea-sure!) blurb, proper choices of starters and an array of mains which were EXACTLY the same you would get on, say, SYD-SIN at the time.

So yes, as I have remembered, it was a really bad downgrade after COVID. As it was definitely NOT the usual Domestic slop back in those days prior to the pandemic!
