Qantas Business Class meals & menus

BNE-CNS 09:35 flight, 737.

Too many flights and a faulty memory, which is a shame as had another excellent crew and CSM who made boarding very entertaining (this time I boarded early so watched it all from 1C).

Mushroom quiche was very tasty, but had been in the oven too long as you can see.

I think the other options were chia pudding and a toastie, but genuinely can't recall with certainty.

Excellent service right throughout the flight.

Doesn’t look very appetising. :)

QF153 MEL-AKL. Lamb Salad.

QF154 AKL-MEL. Agree 100% with @kermatu and @Welsh-Kiwi regarding the tortellini, looked quite appealing (was feeling like pasta at the time) and tasted ok for the first few bites after which it became completely meh, could not be saved with pepper and salt. Salad was good.

Great NZ crews both ways.

CBR - BNE 11am E190

Only 5/9 seats in J taken today, one of those was a Qantas crew member. No PDB but a drinks round was offered after take off. 2 choices. Corn fritter with sausages or a spinach frittata. I chose the corn fritters and when presented the CSM said he’d also added the sides from the other dish as well but I did not hear what they were. Meal came with a muesli bar and 2 little cakes. The hot meal was tasty but a bit underwhelming. I had a glass of Shiraz to wash it all down with. No tea or coffee offered.

Friands? I'd be happy with that J meal - the fritters would have needed something on the side.
Gosh, I haven't hear that term in years but you are right, that might indeed be what they are called. And I generally agree with you, that meal looks actually quite appealing. Sans the spinach but that's easily picked off the plate :p

BNE - AKL 6.10pm 737

All J seats taken on this flight. I was in row 2. PDB served with a choice of champagne, orange juice or water. 3 choices for dinner:

- pork steak with mash and vegetables
- Mexican spiced chicken salad with scorched corn and cherry tomatoes
- chicken and corn soup

By row 2 the pork had all gone so I chose the chicken salad. I’m glad I did, it was light and delicious. The portion size was perfect. Dinner also included a small side salad with Israeli couscous, some feta, beans and a slice of salmon on top - also very tasty. I washed dinner down with a nice Shiraz. After dinner some ice cream tubs came round the cabin.

All in all a great flight from the NZ based crew.

I also had the polenta and corn cakes the other day. CNS-BNE 9:35 flight, E190

Didn't look flash but was very good. The smoked sausage was tasty. But it brought home the stinginess of QF - one small sausage in a meal is pathetic. I think the other option was the tomato quiche.

Service from Sam excellent. He did go back after the J service was done, but came back to the J area a couple of times to offer further teas/coffees etc.

BNE-MEL 14:10, 737 service.

Soup, cold chicken salad or chicken pie the options.

The pie was very tasty and full of chicken. Excellent.

And for those asking where's the cheese:

Here is some. This was the Y snack, which one of the FAs then brought through the J cabin after the meal for anyone who wanted. Nice.

Excellent service from CSM Paul. Good flight.

That's a great idea to offer the Y snack to J since it would probably be thrown if not taken up by Y and offers a little extra after the main refreshment. Works on a 2h-ish flight like BNE-MEL imo.

Not sure this is new policy - Paul was a little surprised when I had it but quickly offered to open it, put the tub on a plate, warn me that the cheese slices often stuck together, and then get me a fresh wine!

The FA I think went through the whole cabin with the spares. Being out of the fridge I guess they would have been thrown, so agree it makes complete sense to offer them to pax / crew.

Has anyone recently been on QF7 SYD-DFW? I'm going in about a month and am trying to imagine how to spend these 18 or so hours of flight. Leaving here in the afternoon and then arriving roughly the same time but in DFW, that means dinner, then very quickly approaching darkness and then breakfast after a night time sleep I would imagine? Probably some quiches or sandwiches available in between but nothing else- would that be a correct assumption?

Has been a while that I've been flying on such longer routes on QF. Got too used to Qatar's anytime eating in the meantime so I better manage my expectations accordingly

I was on the similarly-timed MEL-DFW a few months ago, but honestly cannot remember what the second meal was. Maybe breakfast???

The timing isn't amazing, to be honest. If you eat lunch in the Flounge, you don't feel particularly hungry for the first meal, which is the main one. I tried to go straight to sleep after take-off to align my body clock to US time. My partner stayed up and (a QF novice) tried to have her main meal a few hours later. She actually got told off (!!!!) by the cabin manager for making the request. Dreadful service by QF. So set your expectations accordingly. Otherwise, the crew were relatively good without being spectacular. However, my partner reminded me throughout the flight of what a step down it was from our recent QSuites flights, in terms of food, customisability of meal timing, seat, etc.

My plan of sleeping straight away worked relatively well. Woke up two-thirds of the way through the flight and was already on US east coast time. It did mean I was somewhat hungry ahead of the second meal. Needed some of the 'snacks' to tide me over until the last meal.
