Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF145 SYD-AKL
3 options: soup, chicken salad or beef ravioli with kale.

I went for the ravioli and it was fine… but that salad… just not good at all
IMG_2242.jpeg

This was BNE-CHC yeah what was that salad. The main was ok, chicken and mash.
The cheese and crackers was kind of the upmarket version of Virgin but much fiddler to eat.
And why do Qantas decide to serve the ice cream 45 minutes from landing, crazy.

Crazy, interestingly, we were served ice creams reasonably quickly.
On my return leg, no ice cream.

SYD-ADL 17:25 flight, 737 service.

Another good crew, lead by Vinka.

No PDB or pre-meal drink. Three food options were chicken soup, cold chicken and quinoa salad, and the Body Count smoked pork pasta.

Was quite hungry - food in the J lounge did not look appealing - and have enjoyed the pasta before, so went with that.

No pic as it was just as several of us have posted before. Good serve, tasty and filling. Nothing fancy but thumbs up from me. Meal included bread and a chocolate bar.

Wines, teas and coffees offered through to descent. Full cabin but was a relaxed service.

ADL-MEL 7:05 flight, 737

Three options for breakfast. Muesli; 4 cheese toastie: frittata with chicken sausages.

BE13D651-7028-434D-BCB2-D78D5E3913CC.jpeg

Frittata was quite nice. Sausages pretty average. Tray came with bread and jam, yoghurt and a protein bar. Generous. Juices, wines, teas and coffees all served.

Good crew headed by Helen. I noted she took the trouble of plating the toastie to a couple of pax. Simple act but made it look so much better.

MEL-PER lunch time flight. A330 service.

Choices were soup, salad (pumpkin I think), and a ginger chicken noodle dish. I choose the latter:

This was exactly the same for my MEL-PER afternoon flight on the B737. (Was a pumpkin & feta salad, and I think a pea & mint soup.) I had the chicken noodle dish too, which didn't have much chicken in it, in my case. Overall, not very impressive but probably an improvement on some dom transcon J meals that have been posted here. Crew were good.

J attendant offered me two options: ginger chicken or pumpkin and feta salad. I saw and later heard her offer soup too.

The chicken was tasty but agree the ratio of chicken to noodles was terrible. I’ve had more meat in $3 frozen meals. Though they are probably $6 now thanks to inflation.

It is nice to have starters and cheese again. But 2 prawns does not a starter make. And one cheese also poor. The trans Tas/con routes used to have great starters (and nice Kiwi cheeses ex-NZ).

Also served on a single tray. Though in this instance probably for the best as service was terribly slow. Over an hour before the trolley appeared. Then turbulence sent it back before anyone was served. Very nice crew, but disappointingly slow.

PDB of sparkling wine or water offered soon after pax boarded. No pre-meal drink service. I know to ask for one if I want, which I didn’t on this occasion, but was surprised that this didn’t happen. Ice creams also offered toward the end of the flight.

OK flight. Glad there has been some small improvement to the dining on these routes, but it should have been much more.

Must be the longer DOM and regional INT catering our of MEL at present??

I’ll add that on my MEL-PER flight, a PDB of a glass of water was offered.

Then a pre-meal drink service with the usual almond/pretzel mix.

Then lunch as per my photos.

Then tea/coffee and some wine top-ups.

Later, ice cream.

And finally, shortly before landing, this:

For at least a couple of years pre-pandemic the menus for trans-Tasman and trans-Continental flights were generally identical. I and others have posted the printed menus in this thread as well as the old dedicated trans-Tasman thread. Not sure about other regional routes but my guess is they’ve returned to this alignment of product on all East coast routes to and from Perth and NZ.

All true for my MEL-PER too, except no PDB. Perhaps because boarding/pulling back from gate was very quick overall.

That salad looks like a huge improvement.

Not sure how I feel about soup featuring/substituting as a main dish offering though - sure, if that’s all you feel like, but seems more like it should be an entree or side offering, in addition to the main.

I remember some flight attendants used to offer (on request, I think) small cups of soup before a main - wonder if that’s still an option.

Salad a big improvement over the past!

HBA-SYD 12:05 flight on the 737.

My seat mate requested a sparkling wine and was served from a full bottle. Lois Blanc if I caught the name correctly. I don’t normally pay much attention to sparkling so may have missed it onboard or on this thread, but is this a new thing? Nicole implied it wasn’t a one-off.

Nice flight.
I have had the "Lois" sparkling wine poured from the bottle on a few flights now. Top ups regularly offered. (Much nicer than Yarra Burn!)

AKL-SYD 8am flight, 737. Four options for breakfast.
Frittata with spinach and tomatoes (the J attendant’s recommendation).
Cheese omelette.
Coconut chia pudding
Fruit salad.

I chose the omelette

Surprised there wasn’t bacon or sausage with this or the frittata. Omelette was fresh and well cooked. What cheese there was in the omelette was tasty.
Tray came with yoghurt, apricot Danish and an oat sweet.

Service again terribly slow - though the J attendant apologised and said it was her first day looking after the cabin solo. No pre-meal service but pax who asked for drinks received them.

PDB sparkling wine and water offered after everyone had boarded. Waters and cookies also offered just before descent.

and QF12 overnight. No starter…

The beef was reasonably tasty but over cooked.

The chocolate moose was huge and pretty tasty.
CB12557E-1010-4E8E-9A4C-931CD7E15249.jpeg

The usual sort of breakfast options (although slightly different to QF11 posted above).

Serving sizes are generous and I often struggle to finish the “full breakfast” (probably would have been happy with a decent coffee and pastry).

Note: the kale was disgusting!
