Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Anyone flown QF25 (SYD-HND)? See a real absence of reviews if it online. We have a flight coming up in June.

anyone seen the MEL to SIN business class menu?
I have a little one who has a dairy/egg allergy so wondering if there may be anything she could eat.
In “manage your booking” you should select the appropriate dietary requirement. That way there will be a dairy free meal loaded.

Three reviews in this thread from the last 6 months - all close to identical. I'm flying it again in early April and will report back.

QF25 SYD-HND

Appetisers excellent, beef was standard Qantas doneness (leather), miso soup missing dashi, dessert excellent.

Overall good to see Qantas making an attempt to localise the menu on the route, but some areas for improvement.

QF25 SYD - HND Last Night

The Japanese menu was highly mediocre. Starters were nice, main was bad.

Breakfast was the usual form to fill out and was fine.

30 Dec QF2 5SYD-HND

Managed to get one of the Japanese meal option as they run out quick. By far this is the best business class meal of any flight I have taken. Brings back the old days of proper dining. Tasty, Fresh, Well presented proper food and not that “salad” 😀View attachment 313346

anyone seen the MEL to SIN business class menu?
Pea and mint soup with parmesan croute - contains milk
Salad of white cut chicken with wombok, daikon, shallots, sesame and black vinegar dressing
Thai style fish cakes with pickled cucumber and chilli dressing - contains milk and egg (it may also be a Gnocchi dish which also contains milk and egg)

Caramelised potato gratin with peas, mushrooms and roasted fennel
Pappardelle with Lamb Ragu and Parmesan - contains milk and egg
Jiangxi style Humpty Doo barramundi with jasmine rice, seasonal greens and sesame seeds
Seared Beef fillet with Chipotle Butter, Corn Puree and Broccolini - contains milk in the butter and corn puree (as the dish is loaded per component you could ask for it without the butter and corn)

This is provided as a guide to assist you - obviously no guarantees.

HBA-MEL, B717, scheduled 10:20am departure ( actual 11:10).

No PDB. Choices of frittata or polenta. I chose frittata. Quite nice, but looks a bit like breakfast?

Service Ok- wine not on the cart but retrieved from galley no problem. Request for top up quickly , and pleasantly done. Never have much of a problem on HBA-MEL, although this crew seemed diverted by discussion on their social life 😊 . The boyfriend’s ears would be burning 😳

I had quinoa asparagus salad and the Lord 4 cheese toastie both weren’t too bad. I’m no Neil Perry 😬 but Salad could have done with a bit of zest (balsamic dressing maybe) cheese toastie tasted ok but the cheeky sparkling wines helped the experience 😂 tired to give back Lindt balls but encouraged to keep for later …..

That's sensational, thank you for that!

I've never flown business before, would the crew know the allergens in each dish?

Another example of the ginger chicken noodles.Edible, but not great.

This really looks like whY catering of old. How far QF’s standards have slipped 😢 Some recent VA domestic J flights I’ve taken (and see on the corresponding AFF thread) have blown QF’s catering and presentation out of the water. Neil Perry should be ashamed to have his name attached to this brown slop and supermarket bread.

Doesn't seem to be the relevant entry. I can select a child's meal but can't go further

Child meal prepared for children 2 to 11 years old.
  • Can contain: Lean meat, fish, poultry, dairy products, egg products, potato, pasta or rice.

Although I can select the gluten free one which does also include dairy free. So will probably go with that option

For flights ex Australia, there is an allergen guide crew have. There isn't one for inbound flights except for flights ex LHR as it is a legal requirement.
That's interesting because I have developed a severe anaphylactic fish allergy and every domestic QF flight I've taken (and they have all been J) they have said they have no idea what's in the meals so once I was given bread and vegemite.

I'm flying QF from LHR so hopefully they will have some more idea but it's annoying that you can't put allergies in your food preferences so I just have to book a vegetarian meal.

This is your choices so I'm going to have to have a vegan meal not even vegetarian - I hope I get someone sensible on board and there are leftovers of something else.

@milehighclub is there a way to register allergies with QF?

I've found most places in the UK are very good with allergies (much better than Australia)
